Yo I wont have my Xbox until 12/14/01, but you can take a wild guess what will be the first DVD played on it.............. um , Ninja Scroll.
Then my follow up will be either Scarface, Casino or Heat. Threee classics.

Mine was Goodfellas. I thought about putting in a porno in to take advantage of the zoom feature but decided against it. Didn't want to dirty it.

I'd pass on Scarface. The quality of the DVD is terrible and virtually no better than VHS.

I watched Pearl Harbor. My advice: use the chapter feature to skip to chapter 20 where it gets good. (Why in the Hell did they add that hour long lovestory triangle to the beginning???????)

Just like Hugh_Jass said, Scarface is probably the worst dvd transfer of any film that got a collector's edition. I've seen some reviewers give it an F for picture quality and an F+ for sound. The picture is dark, murky and filled with artifacts. The sound isn't even 5.1, just dolby surround but is also very murky. Bad dvd for a good movie.

So far the only DVD I have is Shrek. It's pretty good. Next I want to get The Matrix, X-MEN, Episode 1 and Rush Hour 2.

The Matrix. It was the first movie I watched on my regular DVD player, PS2 and now XBOX. Sort of a tradition I started.

I bought my first DVD player in 11/99. It changed my life. I went from a casual movie renter to a hard-core collector and home cinema buff. The images were so crisp and the 5.1 sound so immersive that became obsessed with my next DVD fix.

Fortunately for me, it directly coincided with the venture capital frenzy where DVD deals were plentiful. At one time I had 1500 DVDs in my collection. Now it's down to a more manageable 350 (approximately). With DVDs three for $1 (I kid you not) it wasn't too difficult to build a respectable library in very little time.

Beware. It might happen to you, too. :)

Since I have decided to give my regular DVD player to my dad and use my xbox I will be picking up the DVD kit soon. I will probably play Star Wars Episode One as my first movie (since my wife gave it to me as an anniversary gift and she would like that ;-) ). I would use the matrix but I cannot figure out who has borrowed it to get it back.

So is the quality of the XBOX DVD as good as a standard DVD player?

I found it to be very good, but, then again, I have never owned a DVD player. I can tell you, however, that it is much better than watching a VCR, that's for sure. Eventhough I have never owned one, I have, of course, watched many DVDs on DVD players...and, in my personal opinion, the XBox DVD is about the same quality as an average DVD player...middle of the road.
