I am currently on CLEAR AND PRESENT RANGER Section 06 and can't seem to get passed the part after you go out into space, blow up a lot of ships, dock, and then right after docking you talk to the senator and he talks.. yada yado, and then you go back out into space to blow up torpedo's. As soon as I go back out into space I don't even have time to blow up any ships and don't even see any torpedo's and then the missions over!!!

What am I supposed to do and how can I get passed this mission?

Use your homing missles and locking lasers (the red ones) and stay near the main ship as best as possible. The torpedoes are far off so keep hitting the switch target button (x if I remember right). I know the target system is not the best but try. Do not hesitate to use homing missles if your aim is not good.

Dang, I'm still stuck when you get to the mining colony. After meeting the first group of enemies, (the ambush where the path makes a right hand turn towards a closed blast door) I get worn down so bad I can't fight off the onslaught that charges you when you open the blast door. When the doors open, there's a sniper on the roof of the building across the way, and all these big huge aliens come running down the hill.

Oh well.... Someday, if I ever get to play for more than 5 minutes.

HaHa! Heck yea, man, I feel your pain there. That particular part took me several attempts. I used the sniper-rifle and lot's of patience to get by it. A couple shots to the melons of those large aliens took them down.

I think this game over-all is quite damn challenging to be honest. I'm still loving it! It's one of the more difficult FPS games I have played, I'll put it like that. No joke!

You guys having trouble with the mining colony first area? Ha, what ya'll doing? Running in the middle of the construction site with a pistol? STRATAGY: Patience and a machine gun...

Make use of your sniper rifle and grenades. If you think thats tough, just wait till you fight enemies with the green laser gun. That thing hurts.

Anyone beaten this game yet? I'm really far but the keeps going and going.. and going. I'm not sure what chapter I'm on exactly (I'd have to look) but it's where you have to escort the Senator, one of those big harry Alf looking dudes, and one of those skinny dudes like the guy who gave you orders on what missions to do right when you first got outa jail.. all through small caverns and caves and such. I'm not stuck, actually I'm about to go try and get passed this part right after I'm done typing this. If anyone knows what chapter I'm on and have beaten the game.. how much longer is this game? I'm in no need to hurry and beat it or anything.. it just seems sorta long.. no complaints either.

Actually, I'm very organized when I play a FPS game. I use all the stuff I was taught in real life, where it applies and it works for the most part. Cover vs concealment, proper room clearing techniques, zones of fire, corner negotiations, tactical clearances, and what not. It's just at that particular spot, I can't work to my advantage, and I'm forced to openly engage with minimum cover. That particular ambush at first sets me up to work against four enemies who immediately charge around the corner, and then at least 4 more barracaded, and well bunkered. And, without a lean mode, you can't negotiate a corner to attack without exposing significant amounts of your body to the enemy.
It's probably not that hard. But if I want to play it the way I want, and keep it real to what I know, then it's going to be hard.
If I recall, the rifle is underpowered for this engagement, and I don't think I have the shotgun for that part. Or I think I do, just not a lot of ammo to make the breach.

I agree that realism is great, and thats why we have Ghost Recon. For this game all you really need to do (which works), use the sniper (can't really cover yourself, but can be out of their line of sight) and machine gun to the head. Add a few explosions and bam, ya got it! :watchout:

(side step from behind a box--get a couple shots--hide again--repeat. Do not forget to never stop moving!)
