Does anyone know for sure the number of Xbox's that have been sold. The last time I looked, I found out that Microsoft was not releasing that information.

Well they shipped 1.1 million units to retailers. They plan to have shipped 1.3 million by years end. I don't think official 'sold' numbers have been released.

Needless to say they are going like hotcakes. Same with GC. Should give our economy a much needed boost for the holiday season.

I heard it was 700,000 and so did lots of other people so it must be in that area.

I guess no one knows. And after reading some of the replies, I think some of you might have some reading to do. First of all, because a bunch of people say it is 700,000 it is probably not. Basically, people who hate the Xbox want the numbers to be low, people who love it want them high. So there is now way that is reliable information. I'm teaching you a life lesson here. The word of many doesn't not imply truth. Also, for you young un's out there...(I'm 23, so younger than me) When you own stock in companies like Microsoft, Intel, and Nvidia, you care about how many units they sell. Yes I have an Xbox, and yes I still want to know how many they have sold. Microsoft not making their info public could mean two things. First, they haven't sold nearly as much as they had hoped, and don't want the analysts going nuts. Or second, they want to wait until after the holiday, and announce that they've sold twice as many Xboxes as Cubes or PS2's. Suprise! Stock is up! I'm also not worried about the Xbox going away. Microsoft has close to $10 billion in the bank, and analysts have already predicted they will lose $2 billion before the Xbox becomes profitable in 2-3 years. They are in it for the long haul.
