Well, it was about time. I received GR as a gift the other day. Oh man, the things I was missing. This game is cool. I love the realism, the one shot and you're dead. Everything is pretty much right on. I haven't gotten too far in the game. I've been doing the firefight missions on various difficulties to get used to how the game plays out. A friend has already joined me in a co-op firefight and we're having a ball leading our squads. Eventually I'll be on Live, and this is going to be the game. Man, have I been missing out.

On a side note: There is nothing cooler than breaching a builiding with a friend who knows how to do it. Nothing like a "dynamic entry." This has got to be the first game were we could pull them off aaccording to text book. To bad there's no option for a flash bang grenade. That would have been the icing on the cake. Bravo Team leader tosses a grenade onto a door, and Alpha team makes hostile entry with MP5-'s, using the button hook proceedure to clear the room. Oh man, it's been great.

There are some issues though Why can't I speciffically select who I want to take control of? I'm tired of scrolling through everyone. Speaking of which: They need to put some names of your soldiers on the screen so you know who you just picked. Then, good lord, the game needs to tell you who in your squad is shooting, and at least where at. It's a little freaky to be creeping along and all you hear is one guy in your squad shooting, and you don't know who or what at.

Is it just me, or is your squad just incredibly bad ass with marksmanship. Just blasting people out of the blue with one or two shots. Enemies, that I haven't even begun to engage yet.
And I've noticed that the enemies, who are for the most part in the earlier levels, just paramilitary thugs, are frighteningly skilled shots, and incredibly observant at noticing a camo'ed fireteam, in the bushes, not moving, at over 100 yards.

Anyway, a cool game none the less.

Game on!

I can't wait to get Live with this thing.
So far, I've had to put Mace Griffin in the backseat, there's a new king in town.

lol about time your got it. its really awesome.

umm, on ur third paragraph. u can do this- when ur in a safe area from the enemies, just simply press the left trigger button to bring up the map. then highlight the soldier you want to use. it'll take less than 5 seconds once u master it. thats what i use.

online gameplay is instense. to survive, you gotta think like a soldier. you cant just go gunz n blazing around the map. it takes patience. ie, when ur hiding out in the bushes on top of a hill, u'll barely visible to the enemy. somwhere down at the bottom of the hill, theres someone waiting for you or ur teamates to cross the feild when they think its safe. if u think its safe, bam, u ended up with a bullet between ur eyes. i can tell taht u'll love this game bc ur a military guy who knows this stuff.seige and elimination are my favorite gameplay mode. once u get live, u'll have a blast playing with the G-unit and DDC. theres alot to learn and alot of stuff to do when your online. oh, one more thing, when ur on live, make sure u press the white button if u want to talk. casue alot of ppl didnt know this.

once u unlock the carbine rifle, u'll love it. that is one of my favorite gun and i use this on big maps with the binocs kit. if u use a sniper on a big map, u'll wont see far through the scope. with the binocs/carbine kit, i take out my binocs and scan through the far open areas. this yardage measuring object thing that is in the binocs will tell u how far something is. once u get the yardage number and the yardage is not increasing or decreasing, then the enemy is staying still waiting for someone to snipe out. he cant see u bc ur 250 yards away. keep the crosschair still, switch to ur carbine weapon, fire one or two shot and the next thing u see "Reclaimer has eliminated Casper" and he'll wont know what the hell hit him bc he was sure that he was hiding out very well and far away. :P lol. theres just so much to do and learn i guess.

anyway, i hope ur planning on getting island thunder when it comes out. it comes out next week on august 5th. it'll only cost ya 40$ or 30$ if there is a 10$ rebate.
the island thunder has better graphics, smarter enemy AI, new maps and weapons, and new gameplay modes. cant wait baby. this should hold me over till rainbow 6

<---crawls out from under his rock

NEXT WEEK?!?!?!? Man time has flown by this summer. I thought I still had a few more weeks to wait.

Reclaimer - one way to prevent your squad from taking everyone out before you even see them is to put them on Recon as opposed to Assault or Suppress. This way your team will only fire when fired upon or when you start firing. If your team does start shooting, quickly pull the left trigger to look at your map (don't think you can do this in split screen tho). You should see the enemies on your map and be able to tell what direction they are coming from.

Hey, I'm working on it. Just got to get some computer parts that work, and I'll be Live in no time. Besides, it's best I use this downtime to get my tactics down, and start learning handling techniques for the different weapons. I still haven't picked my favorites with each class. So believe me, by the time I get on Live, I'll be good to go, and should be able to intergrate into a game without too much hassle. Last thing I need is to slow my team up while I bumble about the map.

While I'm thinking about it, is there a chart somewhere that shows the stats for the weapons. Like range and accurace scales. That would speed me along.

I think you'll have to mail in the UPCs from both boxes, but that's just a guess. And yeah, it suggests there's a rebate in the box for Island thunder.

I think the rebate will simply be in the game.........

why would they want some UPC from ghost recon.. that would be stupid since god knows how many people lost their game case or w/e.....

this isn't the first game to do this either, UC had a $10 rebate for transworld.

It talked about the Xbox Live starter kit rebate when you buy IT, i looked in the magazine at Ebgames and that's what it said. People are confused about the rebate, it's not for IT alone :)

Well right now me and a buddy are doing the co-op missions. My favorite is the embassy on elite mission. I can see the potenital for Live, it would be off the hook if I got on.

Anyway, I just wanted to gloat about this cool thing I did. I just started playing the game. We where doing the co-op embassy on elite and playing the mission gametype.
My team goes through the parking garage to face the embassy. Bravo team is on the adjacent streeet to engage the guards on the courtyard. I go to sniper, and beginb picking off the street patrol that's all the way down by the hotel. As soon as I get done, I see that the embassy guards are running towards me. They took the side entrance at the busses rather than the south exit towards my Bravo squad.

I thought: Holy...

I start picking them off, and then I see that this one guy is in the process of throwing a hand grenade. It was sheer luck. I really had no idea what he was doing. It was just that I shot him while he was throwing. I yelled GRENADE! because I thought he chucked it. Wrong, he dropped the grenade at his feet. It blew up and killed the rest of the guards around them.
Sweet.

Yes, grenade dropping happens online as well ;)

When you play co-op, are you playing split screen or system link?

We'are split screen right now. I know that sys link is so much better, but that is not an option we have at the moment.
But the TV is 36inches, so it's not like it's all cluttered up. This is tolerable. Unlike Brute Force with quartered screens. That's horrible.

Yeah i see, you do what you gotta do right ;)

But if you ever get a chance before you get XBL, try it system link.
Split screen really outs a damper on the graphics and FPS.

Yeah, I should probably do so.. That would make good practice.

Been practicing doing embassy firefights on elite using a sniper. Man, that's tough. Even when I let them come to me, that first onslaught on the right hand street in front of the bank is a killer.
Yeah, I died though, but not before dropping 25 of those freaks,

I died sniping those guys that come out of the second alley behind the bank. I forgot there was a sapper squad that runs near the hotel. They came around and put me in a crossfire.

were you smart enough to use grenades?? when u fire at the enemy, other enemies around would kneel down or lay on their stomach and when they are pinned down, lob a grenade over to them and boom, 3-4 will die.

dman, i cant wait for u to get online to try this game. u'll be amazed and hooked like a fat kid running after an ice cream truck

Yeah, I can't wait to get online and do this. It's going to rock.. Swapping lead with Reclaimer. Oh that's great.

Anyway, I had grenades, but I didn't have a chance to get it one out though. I was considering it for the alley to hurry it up. But that's when that 2 man squad made it down the embassy street to the intersection and started to light me up. So I was laying down, and taking fire in 2 directions. I wanted to haul balls up the street to the back door of the bank. But I couldn't get up fast enough, and of course, 2 hits later, I was tasting concrete.

Very annoying.
Do the firefight enemies appear in the same places everytime?
I was starting to notice that, and I think I'm going to redo my plan to accomodate those 2 guys from the parking garage. Then go to the bank and hit the guys in the alley from the back door, using the vans as cover.
That is, if I can get past all that mayhem again on the right side of the bank.

If you think that is hard, I suggest you stay away from Mountain for anything involving Firefight. They will spawn camp you like no one's business!

u let them bots make them ur biatches?? dman, i feel sorry for u. after they spawn killed me like 5 times, i went insane, whiiping out my OCIW grenade launcher and blasting them out where i dont know what the hell im shooting at, but damn, after the first grenade launched by me, i was killed. got revenge on the 2nd try of going insane, took me down 10 kills using my grenade laucner and gun blazing bullets. after i killed the enemies around me, i went to their bodies and hump them yelling whos ur biatch now. but while doing that, i ended up with a bullet between my eyes as there was another wave of enemies coming towards me. and there, they spawn killed me for a while as if i was their biatch, but hell no, i got out of it using the same plan as i did before.

umm, i gotta try that tactic online when i get stuck behind the spawn whore. (island village)
