For one brief shining moment an insider with sometimes-accurate knowledge of THQ-related happenings told us something rather interesting: WWE Raw 3 could be available on all systems by sometime in late 2004. Laughing it off as nothing more than a wives tale, we went on about our business and never gave the notion a second thought. As time went on, however, and the sales of Wrestlemania X-8 on GameCube dwindled and the pre-release hype for the Xbox-only WWE Raw 2 plateaued before its time, it got us to thinking. What if this person was telling the truth?

So we did some digging, and after speaking with our source a second time and learning even more about the situation, it's becoming more and more clear; Smackdown 6 could end up becoming the only console-exclusive wrestling game for all of 2004. From what we pieced together, THQ is heavily considering dropping Yukes from the Wrestlemania project in order to give its full attention to the Smackdown franchise. Raw developer Anchor, Inc. would then expand its focus to include all home console systems including discs for the PC. The release schedule would then see Raw moved to a June release with the PS2-exclusive Smackdown released that same December.

IGNPS2 contacted THQ for comment and was met with very simple "We have no comment at this time" reply. Yes boys and girls, let the speculation begin
