with the way things are going for the x box in the land of the rising sun it dosent look like the next x box has a snow balls chance in heck of being successful there. i have been thinking of some things microsoft could do to get more japanese suport. i know microsoft will never see my plan or follow it if they did but i have nothing better to do so here it is. first microsoft should buy a lot of small japanese developers to get some japanese game. next microsoft should buy smilebit from sega and team ninja from temco and get the rights of all the games they have made on the x box. then microsoft should buy bandi, fromsoftware, and koie. i know they make crappy games but they are japanese games and they sell pretty good. last microsoft has to get namco, capcom, sega, and kanami to make new eculesive game for the x box and maybe some older francises like capcom could give us oshami and dino crisis. i know my plan will cost a lot but microsoft has the money and getting a lot of games to help in japan is worth it.

It's Microsoft. They're maneuvering, I assure you. The next Xbox will be just what we want it to be.

I think that Microsoft needs to farm material, as w/ Sudeki. That is, knock-off brit j-pop games. Or Canadian. Or Thailand. Get 'em jealous, and these hot Japanese studios will want part of the market.

Fuel the gamer's interest, beg a little, throw some money around...

The Xbox is going to do fine.

i know that micosoft bought a lot of korean devs at it's launch in korea to help there i dont know why they dint do it in japan it make no sense to try to force feed them american games when there not into them i think sudeki will help maybe microsoft should advertise the music mixxer a kerioke or how ever you spell it for the x box i also think microsoft should make a seprate x box for japan you know make it smaller lighter give it some wierd colors and call it a diffrent name japan is the only thing holding the x box back since the x box owns the u.s. and europe they should treat japan as the most important territory.

Quite frankly, MS can do whatever they want in Japan and it probably won't make a lick of defference, because the Japanese just don't buy many non-Japanese products. That's just their theory i guess.

Why would a company treat an area that is not buying its product as the most important? If anything, Microsoft should focus on the areas it's products are selling well in sot hat they satisfy those customers and don't lose them. If the Japanese don't want the Xbox, so be it, I want Microsoft concentrating on me, I am a loyal consumer, I want them to show me appreciation, not the guy who is shunning them.

Couldn't agree more. Screw Japan.

because most of the major devs are japanese. have you ever wondered why the x box dosent get any major suport from square-enix, capcom, namco, koie, and konami it's because they want their games to sell well and right now there arnt enough x boxs in japan to have a game sell well. no matter what microsoft does here people will buy the x box but look at japan it took 3 price cuts to bring its sells up from 1,000 boxes sold a week to 3,000 a week. and i disagree with your statement that nomatter what microsoft does the japanese still wont give a crap there arnt a lot of major japanese games out fo the x box. here are the only one i can think of that are only on the x box.

1 panzor dragoon orta
2 jet set radio future
3 gunvalkrie
4 dead or alive 3
5 dead or alive extreme beach volley ball
6 mureko
7 nude
8 otogi myth of demons
9 steel batallion
10 dino crisis 3
11 crimson sea
and besides some old ports thats about it and its not enough to make the japanese to buy an x box

I have a better idea of why I think the xbox isn't doing well, they don't want corporate America invading their market. They have loyalty to domestic companies, sadly, North Americans don't seem to have the sort of loyalty. However, that is good in some cases. In those good cases the better product wins out, foreign or not. In the bad cases poeple buy friegn becuase they are under the impression that anything North American sucks.

Personally, I don't like any of those "major" game developers you listed. They make a linear style of game that is very un-satisfying to me. I also think it is very close minded to say that the only major developers are asian based. You need to broaden your horizons. There are plenty of western developers that make darn good games, whether they develop or publish. Such as the following: EA, Bioware, Atari, Dice, Digital Illusions, Bethesda, Big Blue Box, Lionhead, Ubi Soft, Microsoft, Bungie, Rockstar, Id, Codemasters, Blizzard, Rare, Infogrames, Digital Extremes and the list goes on and on.

Once again, I will state that Microsoft should concentrate on loyal consumers. By not doing so they will lose them, well those who aren't fanboys. If Microsoft focuses on eastern needs in the next Xbox, and those needs do not co-inside with my own, I won't buy. Same can be said for any company and thier product. If I am not rewarded by said company for my loyalty to thier product, then I will no longer support that company. It is my money they are using to keep thier business running, so they better use it to please me, not the person who did not invest in them.

i unstand were you are comming from but the facts show that the devs i named make a lot of games that sell here and japan like medal gear solid, final fantasy, resident evil, dynasty warrior, tekken, and devil may cry. i also belive microsoft should reward us by making diffrent colored x boxes, and having a lo of limited eddition stuff like sony does for the playstaion2 in japan. and we should get games first if we dont already.

If Microsoft want more support from Japan, two things: RPGs and survival-horror types will doing well. My thoughs.

thats why microsoft has to buy some japanses devs and get more suport from namco, capcom, sega, koie, komani, and square-enix so they can make rpgs and other japanses games. dead or alive 3 and extreme beach volley ball did good over there so there is hope.

So, that means we just have to make a game called, "Super happy happy porn extravaganza!" Oh and throw the DOA chicks in there. Re-hash that game once a month with a different variation and the Xbox will be GOLD in Japan and all of Asia.

I've said this numerous times why xbox is not mainstream in japan, japaness people do not like arrogant aggressive people, MS fits both and let alone it's America, second Japanese people come first in their country no matter what, everyone else comes second. If I were in charge of running the show from the get go, my campaign would have gone like this, under no circumstance would MS name be associated with the xbox, instead I would have called the company wicked step mothers, case closed.

That is what Microsoft attempted. You will notice that the Microsoft emblem is barely noticeable on most packaging, heck even on the Xbox itself. They tried to kind of keep the Microsoft name almost invisible while making the Xbox emblem highly noticable.

lets not kid ourselves microsoft made a lot of mistakes in japan

1 the design of the x box is to big heavy and plain for the japanese.

2 releasing a bunch of western games they dont like over there.

3 having defective x boxs released i know it was just 1% but that sends a bad message to the japanese.

4 firing some employees of the japanses division. that sent a really bad message to the japanese.

microsoft will continue to get raped in sells by sony if they cant get japanese suport. the x box has pretty good world wide sales for a first time console but just imagine what they could be if it had japanese suport. and hey if the japanese like doa give it to them so far it is the only game they will buy on the x box.

i do beleive microsoft will learn from its mistakes in japan and do a better jop next gen. and i do reconise that there are a lot of good western devs and the people showed their loyalties to microsft should be rewarded. i say microsoft should get spinter cell, dead to rights, max payne, and ghost recon to be ecluesive to the x box only.

i know i come here for fun and there is no fun in getting mad on a message board. i wasnt trying to preach gloom and doom for the x box if it dosent sell in japan i just want it to have strong sell everywhere and for microsoft to show that it learns from mistakes and fixes them.
