Codemasters announces plans to re-launch the Xbox version of its racer, with Live support

Codemasters is going to re-launch TOCA Race Driver on Xbox, the company has announced. The new version will feature Xbox Live support for multiplayer racing as well as system link play for up to 12 consoles.

Xbox Live support in the revamped TOCA will allow up to 12 drivers/cars (a combination of AI drivers and real players can be used) to race around and around online till they get dizzy. Codemasters is including software that measures the speed of your connection to Live and adjusts the optimum number of cars on track accordingly.

While you're zipping around the track and dripping oil, you'll also be able to swear profusely at the two nearest cars/drivers, and likewise hear their witty retorts (unless they happen to be AI drivers we're guessing), thanks to Xbox's voice communicator.

The new version of TOCA Race Driver on Xbox is due in October, retailing at £29.99. Of course, owners of the original who want to play it Live will have to fork out 30 more quid for the privilege...
