Looking good? I have to greatly disagree with you there. The graphics in this gameare that of a two year old pc game, that = not good.

So far it is looking like Soldier of Fortune 2 to me, which is a disgrace to the Xbox's graphical capabilities. Seriously, what are they playing at bringing out games that look like this and worse on the Xbox? It's pathetic.

Look at the graphics the Xbox can produce, then tell me that looks good.

Merimac, that's not what's important at all. CS's graphics on the PC are mediocre to poor at best, but it's the most popular action game. This game kicks ass too. Do graphics really matter that much? There is a certain level of detail that doesn't have to be passed to make a game fun, and as far as I'm concerned, this game is above it. He said "looking good" not just referring to the graphics, but to the game in general, which I agree with. I can't wait for this game. It will be the best online game for Xbox Live.

Nice upgrade from the PC version, which is nearing 4 years old on a 5+ year old engine. :)

I haven't been following the Xbox version at all but it looks like they may be using the Condition Zero engine for this game. Does anyone know if that is true?

Counter Strike is the most popular online video game in recent history, theres no doubt in my mind about that. My only worries for the X-Box incarnation are of the size of the reticule on screen and the recoil effect being "dumbed down" for console gamers. These changes, for better or wores, are still very substancial changes to the way Counter Strike plays in that it will have a more arcade like feeling to it - quite similar to Halo's multi-player physics. Weither the world will take a liking to these changes and accept them is a question in the back of many gamers minds, and one that we will inevitally only find out once we accually play the game. I for one have very high hopes for the X-Box version of Counter Strike.

As for the graphics, I think they are quite addiquet, and have been significantly enhanced in comparrison to the original PC version in many ways. Counter Strike for X-Box is an enhanced port of the soon to be released Condition Zero, an expansion pack for the original PC version that includes a single player campaign and enhanced graphics. Of course Counter Strike will look similar to Soldier of Fortune 2: Double Helix - Soldier of Fortune 2's graphics engine is based off of the Quake 3 tech that id software developed, and Counter Strike of an older model of the engine, Quake 2, which was, prior to Counter Strikes development, licensed by Valve to develop Half-Life - Why are the graphics of Counter Strike of such importance to gamers anyway. This game is all about the gameplay, and this aspect is one that should concern us more than the games graphics.

Well the Xbox version is said to be the most graphically impressive between the 2. I'd say that the Xbox version should be the better. Although you won't have deadly accuracy you can cause some damage. Plus Xbox Live. Garanteed no cheating. Well there's nothing to stop those damn exploits to get high rankings but nothing that would ruin the game. Didn't Valve mention actaul dedicated servers (finaly no peer-to-peer) and up to 20 players per game? That should be sweet.

Well, when we talking about CounterStrike, there are no doubt that the best of all is the gameplay, no matter what you think about other characteristics. The gameplay is strong and with LIVE enabled, is going on top or maybe beat out UC.

Valve Promises support for the Xbox version. If they do then UC will definately get beaten. Heck a lot of Live games beat UC. Hopefully CS on Live will change our perspective on what's to be expected from a Live game i.e. Live content, user made maps, server-to-user, more players per game, and even clan friendly. Let's hope Valve can deliver and not give us false hopes. :cheers:

Wow, i know i am not hard to be impressed but i have to say i do like thos CS graphics. Much cleaner then i saw a few months ago. It would be sweet if they were on par with halo 2.

CS is only the most popular FPS because the lowest end computers can run it, not because of quality or because it's good.

I have to agree with Sodacider. Counterstrike was a decent game, but it wasn't all that great.

Ghost Recon and Counterstrike are two tottally different ames. Counterstrike is an extremely unrealistic fragfest like Unreal Championship, Ghost Recon is more of a simulation type game where kills come slowly but surely. I myself prefer military "simulation" games to be more like Ghost Recon, not spasmatic like Unreal Championship team deathmatches.

Anyhow, that is how I see it. Disagree or agree if you like, I won't argue, unless you start throwing names an false truths around.

Yeah Mac is right about the frag fest. I remember when everyone would bunny hop to dodge bullets and their accuracy was never horrible. It's very popular for 2 crowds. The action gamer and the hacker. It got very popular fast for both crowds. Action gamers saw it wasn't hyper realistic like Rainbow Six but real enough and arcady. Hackers saw it as an easy target. The only servers garanteed not to have hackers are clan servers. Even then some clans got busted for using the hacks. But Xbox Live will change that. :D . I hope they do look into adding a match type that allows respawn cause those head shots are a *****. :D

CS is ok on the PC. Its really not that great. Raven shield is way better if your looking for that 1-2 shot kills at a moderate pace.

I think its so popular because its not to fast paced and pretty easy to pick up.

So far, ive gotten the most gameplay and met the most skilled players playing CTF in Unreal Tournment on the PC.

(No not Unreal Tournament 2003)

Fisrt of all none of those games are anything like CS.
Plus whats wrong with letting lots of people play the game some people(myself inclueded) dont play pc games very often so i dont run out and buy a new graphics card and a new processer every time a new game comes out so CS is a refrshing game that i can play even though my system isnt the best

First of all.... You don't have to buy a new video card and CPU everytime a new game comes out. To many people think you have to upgrade constantly.

I had Geforce3 for like 2 years. And I was still playing the newest games. Only a couple of months ago did I get a new video card. And that was only becasuse it was a gift from a family member. Near the end of my Geforce3's era, it was playing Raven Shield, Ghost Recond, Solider of Fortune 2, etc..etc.. And each title (can't say for Raven Shield of course, for obvious reasons) looked better on my PC then it does on the Xbox.

I bought Ghost Recon when it first came out... Nice looking game.
Then I just recently rented it on Xbox, and WOW .. I played it for about 3 minutes and turned it off simply because the grahpics suck at that low res. Not to mention it's just not right playing any FPS with a controller... When you play FPS'ers on PC for so long, making the switch is near impossible.


And CS is sooo freaking old... let the freaking game die already! How is it that people aren't totally sick of that game yet!!!!

I think it completely sucks that Xbox is getting OLD OLD games like this coming to it. Why does Xbox need OLD games!?!?! Xbox needs new and exciting games.

We don't need these old games such as Grand Theft Auto and Counter-Strike. :cuss:

Even the sequel came out some time ago didn't it? So it's also OLD...

If you want to make a sequel to a game, and make it fresh and new to keep up with the times then do so and release it on the system. But don't bring a PC game or any console game that has been on that system alone for so long and take it to another system... MAKE SOMETHING NEW...

Like Halo on the PC..... Just make Halo2 for PC and Xbox and bring them out about the same time.. But no PC is getting Halo 1 just before Halo 2 comes out.. OH JOY!! It's stupid..

To tell you the truth, CS was the FPS that gave me the most time played on a regular basis. I played CS for more than 6 months straight, and I still play it every couple weeks.

My current game that I play alot is Natural Selection. You can't go wrong with aliens mauling humans!
