Help us non-credit card users gain access to Live!

I don't know what Micosoft is thinking by limiting thier Live subscribers to people with credit cards, but I thought I would try and change that. I don't have a credit card, and I don't have access to one. I think Microsoft should do something about that so everyone can enjoy thier awesome Live network. Please, sign my petition and help me show Microsoft that there are other users who want to use thier network but can't!

Exactly.

There's no reason why, if you have the money to pay for it, you wouldn't be able to get one. MS goes with the cc deal because:

1. They want the account to belong to someone who can actually pay for it.

2. You're entering into a legal agreement (kind of) when you sign up. Since most cc's are held by people over 18, and people under can't be held to a legal agreement (think columbia house), they avoid dealing w/ kids.

But don't they realize that alot of thier buisness IS kids! That's part of my point. That and the fact that I'm not going to go out of my way and get a CC just to play some games online. Too much hassle for the reward. If they made it easier to get online, they would have ALOT more customers. Hell, I know quite a few people who have CC's but they won't use them because they are cautious about using thier CC's online. Even Sony realized that using just CC's won't work, proof of this shows with the Everquest time cards. You can buy them almost anywhere and they work perfectly. MS needs to open thier eyes to the younger, non-credit card using group of people!

yea but every kid has a parent/guardian/relative/friend who has a credit or bank card. so you go to them, ask them if you could use their card and assure them that it won't be charged for quite some time, but when it does come time to renew, you'll give them all the money to cover it a few weeks in advance

Easier said than done man. My parents don't even have a CC. Hey, speaking of which, do u want to lend me YOUR CC number? I didn't think so. Not many people are willing to giveout thier CC numbers, so not everyone can just grab a number like you say. The time card is just easier.

Stop being lazy....just my IMO. Look, you are using their service, just like alot of other companies that provide online services (your cable company, amazon.com, ebay) so you have to do what they ask to use their services. I say have your parents open an account for you, mainly a checking account, and get a Visa Check Card, it's what I use. Then, if you have the money to pay for XBL, deposit it into the account and give MS your CC number to have them access it. Simple.

But don't try and get a petition, they don't do anything, unless it's trying to get Motoko unbanned from this site. I personally don't see any problems with what they are doing, mainly because with the ESRB ratings, kids shouldn't be playing online anyways, due to the extreme language that people tend to use on there.

My mom hates video games, My dad doesnt like using his CC for online things much less online video games, He doesnt believe in paying 2 play and neither do I, but Live is a great service that has grown on me since I tried it.

The downside is this as well, Im 15 and I had to beg and beg to get my dad to put his CC number in and beg and beg and beg to make sure my mom says its OK(she pays the bills). And as soon as I bought the kit, she said as soon as its up we arent getting it again. ***!!!!!

They need to make those Cards like EQ for Live. I totally agree with that.

And to whoever said just got to a bank and get a debit card, if we dont have a CC or our parents wont let us use their CC, what makes you think we can get TO a bank much less get a Debit card.
And dont you need parent permission if youre under 18???
As well as money, and most "Kids" dont have jobs.
