ESPN 2k4 lock up problem.

I'm curious is anyone else is getting this. After playing on Live when going to exit the game it just hangs at the exit screen and you need to turn off your xbox to play again. The first time i played it didn't happened but since then it has happened everytime.:huh:

Same exact thing happens to me. That's why I here, trying to see what the deal is. A few of my buddies are reorting thr same prob. Hope they patch this, cuase it really sucks!!!

I played one online game last night and it locked up on me.
I thought it was just me since I need to go get a Xbox cleaning kit for my lens since I think it's a lil'dirty, cause other games freeze up on me which leads me to think it's skipping my discs.

But yeah, mines froze up too, after da game.:watchout:

OK, I got in 6 games last night, and the only problems I was having was the dam divergence errors are back, but only with Borka. He took the lead on me 14-0 in the 1st Q, divergence. Next game, I take the lead 7-0, get the ball back, divergence....game 3 - 0-0 3 min. into the 1st, divergence

After that though, I spanked Crazy Cougar and 2 other schmucks that didn't talk, then lost to IIIONEIII who gave me an awesome matchup on Legend mode. I'm loving this game, there are some people that are weighted more as a supreme back - i.e. Bettis - that you need 3 guys to take him down,but that doesn't show too much on Legend mode.

casper, we definitely need to get a full game in.... we had some serious defensive battles in all three games...

First off lets just go over the game situation!!! Ehen, shall we Casper????? LOL!

Casper used his beloved Dolphins!!
Who did Coug use??????? The Bengals, yup good ole Cincy.

The score 42 - 21..Yup it looks bad, BUT he could only score 7 in the second half once I got onto the game a little better. Once I contained Williams it got a little tougher for him.

We'll see each other again REAL soon Casper and I'll take a real team and smack ya around a bit.

(On a side note, yes I do suck at this game though...LOL!)

btw, i don't mean to brag...... but casper forgot the 4th and final game that we played in which I was up 7-3 late in the 3rd quarter..... but that's not the best part.........

the best part is that at that point I had held Ricky Williams to -4 total yards of rushing.

Solution to divergence if you recieve it a lot : Do not play multiple games in a row against a different player each time.....

1. Play a game vs. an opponent.
2. You can replay that person after the game without getting divergence.
3. You wanna play someone else? Switch off your xbox and turn it back on, restart espn and log in to live. You won't get divergence against your next opponent.

This method is a pain in the butt, but tends to work 95% of the time if you have divergence problems. NHL2k3 had something called sync errors and this is how we founnd a way around it. So far it seems to work for ESPN too.

Hope sega fixes the divergence but I highly doubt it as they blew it off on 2k3 also. I havent experienced the Divergence error yet with ESPN but I am sure its bound to happen.

I'm getting the same lockup on exit. Can this issue be fixed through live updates?? Im new to Xbox LIVE and have always used PCs so sorry for my ignorance.

As far as the rankings go How does that work. I have played 6 games online total and won 3 of them (3-3) but when I host and I see my name on the list it only shows me at 0-2. Is this because I have to beat ranked players for it to count or is the lockup bug causing my stats to not be recorded online?

You have to play a ranked game for it to count. Also, you might be in a different difficulty because I've noticed that this year the rankings are separated by difficulty levels. So you might be 0-2 in Pro, but 1-0 in All Pro, or just be 0-2 overall because they weren't ranked games.

And about that bug, yes, it could be a live update patch, they did something similar last year to add the countdown that you now see when you pause the game. That was added about a month or so after release.

K, thanks for the info Casper.

I primarily try to play on All Pro setting, but when things are slow I rarely turn down a game on the Pro setting either. Pro just seems a little too easy to me, defenses dont like to takle that well on Pro setting IMO.:)

Is anyone else getting dirty disc errors?? They'll correct themselves often, but it seems to have to do with the audio. PITA

I've had only 2 divergeance errors and my game still locks up after i exit the online game :cuss:

Otherwise everything is fine. :D

I keep checking the downloads section to see if there is an update for this lock up issue when leaving a online game, but nothing yet. It really only becomes a pain when I have to get off the couch to recycle the power and login again and when I try to add someone to my friends list.

I can't believe no one's addressed this yet....

I was getting the lockup problem as well and then I read a solution on different board. Go into your dashboard and go to settings, disable dolby digital.....viola....problem solved (at least for me).

You can leave DTS and Pro Logic enabled...it doesn't seem to make a difference. :)

Problem with this fix is I actually use my Dolby Digital and DTS through a Fiberoptics cable to my DTS home theatre system. There is a big difference in sound quality when you turn this setting off.
I would like for them to fix this without losing my Digital Audio in the Process. Thanks for the heads up though.

im pretty much at a 0win 6loss record........one i had a chance but i lost the internet last night so it ended up going in as a drop out or sompin


then the rest were me getting spanked 30-40+ to 14 or sompin......

My problem is always going for it on 4th.......that gets me..........and i know it before i do it i just can't help it.........gambling is not on my side.

You can win with the Cowboys, you just have to spend time learning strengths and weaknesses.

I play as my hometown bucs all the time and yes they have a good Defense but the offense in the game is average at best so I had to spend a lot of time working on my timing in certain plays. Now I can actually beat the Dolphins with TB.
There are a lot of people who play online who are pretenders because they pretend that the Dolphins or Raiders are "thier" team because those teams just happen to be good in the game. Its the ones who play as Chicago or Seattle that you have to look out for.;)

on that same note I dont see too many cardinal players online.lol
