I know this has most likly been asked about 18 thousand times.. but.. what OS will the XBox be running?

I know the API is a subset of DirectX.. but what about the BIOS/OS needed to get the games to run in the first place?

is this going to be a subset of Windows? (Like Windows CE) or something?

Hey Pogo,

Xbox is based upon a VERY scaled down Windows2000 kernel. Also available in Original recipe and Extra Crispy. :)

Can I get that in Spicy B-B-Q? Or are Crispy & Original the only flavors.

Where did you hear it runs on a Win2k kernal? I've heard that it's a Win2k and I've heard it's a WinNT. Is Win2k official?

It's been Win2k for quite a long time. Ever since the Xbox started. The kernel is extremely stripped and only includes things necessary for the Xbox to function.

ah I remember when I was 34 months old it was a grand time, but that was a time far, far ago when ataris roamed the land.
