Nice Pics! I personally can't wait for the game! I dig the old west theme. My favorite level on Time Splitters 2 was the western level. I just hope the pace of the game is more like Halo then Unreal.

I read somewhere that they used the Unreal engine. I don't know what that means. Can someone enlighten me??

You know I'll be all over this one. My only concern is that it is coming out at $39.99. Generally, that indicates that it may not be a top tier game. I hope I'm wrong about that.

Despite most poeple in this thread my opinion is not too high of those. One word:
Ouch.

I can't wait for this game, as far as being 39.99, and not being a top game , who cares not every game is going to be Halo,if I can run around and shoot people with a six gun in a western theme, thats all I care about , hell people paid top dollar for Dino crisis 3 , that game should of been 9.99 new , so I can't judge a game by price

I agree with what you're saying. Unfortunately, we do see a lot of 49.99 games that should have been 9.99. However, we don't see a lot of lower priced games that make you say, "Wow!!! I would have paid 49.99 for this game." I'm just hoping that the lower price isn't an indication of the game's quality. Regardless, I will be buying it the day it hits the stores.

I think OTOGI is probably an exception to the rule, but I stress exception.

Maybe they're insecure. Who knows. Otogi is well worth $50 IMO, and I have a feeling this game, while nowhere near as pretty as Otogi, could well be worth the $40 I'll most likely spend on it.

I think it is just a marketing stunt. So many qames coming out in the 4th quarter of 2003.

Well, just have to wait, but I got my fingers crossed that this game rocks!

Have high hopes for it, but I'll probably rent first.

Sounds great to me, but so did a few other titles. And that price, for whatever reason, makes me hesitant.

Here are some excerpts from the August Gamespot preview:

"Like you'd expect out of any good FPS on the Xbox, Dead Man's Hand will make full use of Xbox Live. In addition to the expected deathmatch and team deathmatch modes, multiplayer Dead Man's Hand will feature two unique modes: bounty and posse. In bounty, one player becomes a mark and all of the other players will attempt to hunt down the bounty for greater reward. King said to remember the Alamo when envisioning the way the posse mode works--you'll hole up with several friends and fight off wave after wave of incoming AI bandits."

"The character models flail around nicely when you take them out--they'll keel over backward if you hit them with a six-gun, but a twelve-gauge blast at close range will send them positively flying backwards. Just about everything in the environment reacts to your shots and other explosions physically, too."

"The rampant use of physics in the game seems to make the action and environments feel a lot more alive than they would otherwise."

"Just about everything in the environment can be blasted, from hanging signs and lanterns to lean-tos and wagons, and they all give you points. You can even raise your score further by effectively creating combos. You'll also build up "juice" when you kill enemies which can be applied toward a special fire mode ... fan your shots with a revolver, for instance, or fire both barrels of your rifle."

I'm actually looking forward to this game. Despite its blocky character models and sparse environments, it appeals to me. It's the Old West theme that grabs me. There are no other games that are set in the Old West (what an oversight!).
