The gameplay in Battlestar Galactica appears to take a lot of inspiration from games like Rogue Leader, which is a good thing. Then Battlestar Galactica builds upon those elements and adds in some pretty cool maneuvers that sweeten the deal. The radar is very similar to Rogue Leader using the “3D radar” look with lines above and below the dots to signify if a ship is above or below your current position. The Viper HUD is very informative showing twelve different functions, including: colonial locator, energy band, hull integrity, primary reticule, just to name a few. The HUD functions aren’t just eye candy are extremely useful and imperative for mission success. For example, there will be times when you are tempted to take out a few more Cylon Raider ships, however, you’ll need to keep an eye on the primary target locator in order to meet mission objectives.
