XIII's multiplayer component definitely plays second fiddle to the mystery and style that take center stage during the solo campaign, but it's also a feature that many gamers would've noticed had it gone missing in the final game. At the very least, we can take control of human-looking cartoon characters and make them pick up guns and blast the hell out of each other with friends.

The design of the multiplayer maps is impressive mainly because the developers avoided simply throwing together a bunch of hallways. There are outdoor and indoor environments that flow one into the other and lots of multiple elevations for some top-to-bottom battling. Many of the deathmatch maps have large open areas so only the most skilled players with the most nimble fingers will have a chance in a toe-to-toe battle. You'll notice a big difference going back and forth from the single and multiplayer games since the solo campaign seems to have a lot more hallways than you might initially expect.
