Crimson Skies,Any Faults? [Archive]

My Xbox is away being repaired so I've got time to reflect on the upcoming games coming out and Crimson Skies comes out in a week in the UK and I know that you guys already own it so how good is it?:confused:

Apart from about 1000 dirty disk read errors(hence my xbox getting repaired),I've had problems with crap games like RAW2 so I need to know for sure if Crimson Skies doesn't have any obvious flaws that spoil the game,like recuring pins!:mad:

Absolutely no complaints here. Online is stellar, "system link" works flawlessly and the single player is way cool and I'm not really a fan of story driven games but it sucks you in and it's free roam (ala GTA) unless you want to do a mission. This is how good it is, the only thing I thought was weird was you were given a name in system link instead of picking your own name. That's it. Just get it, you won't be disappointed IMO.

From what I've heard, this game is awesome. I plan on getting it later this week. :) I need to work some more hours, I'm always broke. :watchout:

Its really a solid title. The graphics are some of the smoothest available. Check out the Chicago level. Great use of AA. The only thing really missing is custom soundtracks which is a real big question mark???

MY only complaint is that I wish there were more online levels available now (but there should be in like 3-4 months). Some people are put off that teh game doesn't offer a 1st person (****pit) mode, but it's not meant to be a flight simulation game so I think third person view fits it well.

My only complaint so far is with the lobby/voice communication on XBL. Granted, this is only my opinion and I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me. However, I guess I'll always prefer the way communication is handled in GR.

The CS lobby is very similar to MotoGP. My biggest complaint with both games is that multiple people can talk at once, which can make it very difficult to carry on conversations, especially in public games where you will always find one or two people that just love the sound of their own voice. It's just as bad in the solo games when everyone is talking at once. However, from what I've seen so far, it's not as much of a problem in the team games as most everyone is trying to strategize. On a related note, I wish they would have provided a means to show who is talking during the game, but I guess that would be difficult when everyone is talking at once.

All that being said, this is only a minor complaint when compared to all of the good things this game offers. It has an great single player mode and excellent online play on XBL with absolutely no lag. Throw in great graphics and sound and you have a top notch Xbox game. Definitely a must buy.

just because planes arent warping and there isnt slowdown doesnt mean that crimson skies is lag-free

have you ever flown through the flag, chicken, health and it taken 2-3 seconds for it to register.....THATS LAG!!!!

there is a rumor that MS integrated its own lag to allow people to host 16 man games, but the delay is horrible......

cant believe nobody else recognizes that $hit

crimson is goin back....the game is smooth, but there is definite lag....

the thing i hate most of all is flying head on with someone and unloading, then after we've passed each other, i start smoking, catch fire, then die....

I have noticed this and have mentioned it to Jafo, but he doesn't see it either, maybe cuz he's always hosting. You're right though, between the voice and then shooting someone to find out you're dead, it is hella annoying, I have already contemplated what I'll be doing with this once RS3 hits the shelves on Wednesday.

Actually Silver, I haven't experienced any of that yet, but I've only been in a handfull of games and all had 4 stars on the connection rating. I'll have to check it out tonight.

i'm extremely disappointed, i was fooled into getting this title....

i was promised 16 man lagless games.....the star system(*) to search for games isnt accurate either....i've seen a 4 * game go to 1 *..........guess the kid sent an IM and poof......

I've yet to go on Live with this game. There's really that bad of lag :huh: I've been enjoying the single player too much (still trying to beat the game).

the game will play smooth thats not the issue......

its the delay...which all online gamers will tell you is probably more frustrating

compare this to GR........you get into a game and it runs smooth, not a hiccup........but u turn your gun at the ground and fire a test shot and it takes 2-3 seconds for it to hit the ground....

LAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG...........gotta get out of the game......

well guess what, thats every server in Crimson Skies.......

leaps and bounds greater......there are 5 different difficulty levels, they've added a 24/7 mode where u build up a created character and go online with him (masterweed owned my guy 21-11)

you can play custom tracks in xbl lobby and during street ball games (which are now ranked!!!!!!!!!!)

the graphics are like watching a tv, this game is a must buy for bball fans

btw, that new lebron commercial is funny as crap, the one where he freezes up in sac-town

I agree w/ skoal about the lobby stuff. Too I've stopped talking unless the alcohol is doing it for me.

The lag blows. It is definitely there. I can deal with it, but I wish they'd left it like the other games. Get a good server=no lag.

While I'm leaning towards keeping it, I've already completed the solo action, so if DDC doesn't play, it might go back. Still have a few days for a full return.

It is a fun game. While the lag can get you down when it goes against you, I've rarely heard anyone complain about a kill after the pass.

I'd say get it Freegard, unless any of this has turned you off. At the very least you won't find any games w/ warping around and unamageable playability. Plus, I know how you love guests, and it does take them.

I knew it would be overhyped. Glad I didn't waste my money like I was tempted to. This weekend I will be renting a few games. Hopefully RS3, Crimson Skies and Amped 2. See you online!

Isn't perception amazing. Some people say great game some people say trade in. I guess the only solution is get what you like and hope it plays good enough for you.

People were raving about Midtown Madness but i held off and rented it. It was a good game, but not my cup of tea and im glad i didnt buy it. I suspect this game is the same thing. While im sure it's a solid game, it's probably not going to blow me away.

Actually, I've played many a lagless or at least very very near lagless game w/ silver. The argument is that instead of letting us find good servers to play on, they seem to have built the lag into the game (such as being shot down after you've easily cleared a corner)

I don't feel as strongly about it as Silver does, but I prefer the other way too. While sometimes it is a pain to find decent servers, it is not that hard, and so rewarding when you do.

Maybe your plain got shot to hell and is slowly falling apart hence once you have rounded the corner it finaly breaks up and then explodes.It happens in real life why not the game...I don't think thats lag.;)

Fortunately, I found out what was up with my server...it's running at a consistant 768K upload...so, I have a good server if you guys want to join mine. I had to tweak it....now it's allllll good :D

I haven't bought Crimson Skies yet...I'm waiting for my brother-in-law to get it for me from the Microsoft Store... He works for Microsoft and can get it for me for $20. The catch is, I have to wait 2 weeks after the game has launched since the Microsoft Store won't carry it until then. So, I'm patiently waiting.

Personaly i think the online play is pretty sweet in Crimson Skies. And yes i have noticed the lag of picking up objects. Nothing makes me madder than picking up health and then being shot down an dhearing that ratchet sound. But i deal with it and go on killing :) The only bug i've found so far in the online play though is that if your plane gets destroyed just a split second before you enter a AA gun you stay there the entire game and can't leave. People can still destroy you and get points but you never leave and are still able to fire too.

But for the i got shot down after i rounded a corner thing. Well i don't personally beleive that bull how do they know that there wasn't someone who had a shot on them. When i use the Doppleganger i'm able to shot someone down from a great distance and they never seen me coming.

Oh yea thanx buckhorn for remembering that I have a fetish for the guest feature,and so I'll 100% be buying this game and if it sucks I'll just do what I did with RAW2.

Also I don't really care for 16player battles,they just seem not practicle.I'll stick to 8 people max like in Mechassault.

Now all I've got to decide is whether or not to get Rainbow(NO GUESTS!!!:mad: )or Top Spin.
