Resident Evil: Apocalypse Wraps, Driver is Next Source: The Hollywood Reporter Monday, November 3, 2003

Writer/director Paul W.S. Anderson's Resident Evil: Apocalypse, budgeted at $40 million, wrapped principal photography on Friday in Toronto under the direction of Alexander Witt. Resident Evil, released in March, 2002, cost $30 million and grossed $39.5 million domestically and earned an additional $60 million at the international box office.

"We're taking the world of the first movie and colliding it head-on with the world of the game, specifically 'Resident Evil 3: Nemesis,"' producer Jeremy Bolt told The Hollywood Reporter. "All the action is above ground in an evacuated Raccoon City. The deadly T-virus is out, and the Umbrella Corp. has sealed the city."

Next up for the production team of Anderson and Bolt is a $50 million adaptation of Atari's best-selling Driver game. James DeMonaco, Todd Harthan and James Roday wrote the script that brings the franchise, which has sold more than 12 million units, to the big screen.

Also on tap is a $25 million big-screen version of Tecmo's blockbuster Dead or Alive fighting game. The film will bring PG-13 fighting action and humor, devised by screenwriter J.F. Lawton (Pretty Woman).

Anderson is currently in Prague shooting Alien vs. Predator.
