Can you fix the NIC inside the XBox? Mine go fried by a lighting storm on July 4th. :(

My insurance paid for a new one but I would really like to get this on working. ;)

It's an onboard NIC and as far as I know, you can't replace NIC's that are hardwired to the board, no matter what you try.

Thats not good then. That means I have this XBox lying around and not doing anything. :(

I take it that it won't even boot either, right? If you can at least boot it, then it's good for offline games, but that's it. Sorry. But be happy that you at least got the insurance coverage. What about the warranty?

Well it can do everything normally but I think the NIC card is fried. The warrenty had expired long ago. The System Link won't work no matter what I try. :(

Brizzer, you know wat time it is....? The "SWITCH-A-ROO" time, buy a xbox, switch it for the new 1 then return it. I have never done it but i have heard of it before. I could never do that wit my xbox, to many "FEELINGS" attached! It's a launch box, cant get rid of it! Plus, no probs yet...

Are you guys sure it's a "on-board" NIC, cuz I have seen people change them because of problem with the originals that come with the Xbox. If you guys dont know FORSURE go on google.com and try to find some pic of the XBOX inside, I think it's a actaully ethernet card and can be changed. If it is "unboard" it IS possible to change it but it would require a skilled person to modify the sodering and the coding for the new one to work properly! meh...:watchout:

It would be just cheaper to buy a memory unit, and a new xbox and transfer all ur data over to the new XBOX.

It's definately NOT a PCI card, it's onboard.

Man, that sounds like something that almost happened to my xbox.

I had a lighting storm come through while I was playing xbconnect with a friend. I am glad that my xbox wasn't fried because of my carelessness.:(

The thing is that I was away that day visiting family. Well if anyone has anyway of fixing with switching it! Please let me know. I really hate having it lying around do nothing.
