I tried to rent Links for the Holiday weekend, but it was all sold out. I ended up getting Tiger Woods instead. Was pretty stinking impressed with it.

So, how does it compare to Links? Besides the obvious: LIVE. LIVE play will surely tip my scales heavily towards Links. But I was just curious about how the two compare beyond that? Has anybody played both games?

To compare both games is a little tough to do. Links falls along the more "sim" aspect of the game while Tiger appeals to the arcade aspect.

Links - Best PC Golf simulation of all time for the past 8 years (maybe more I cant remember when i got Links 386...lol) Links online play along with XSN, puts it strides above Tiger. But if you get easily frustrated, Tiger would be a more beneficial title. There is no spinning the ball in air to get a desired result when landing the ball. You gotta make that decision before hand.

Tiger - Not near as great a PC title, but the console version is outstanding. Yes its arcade like, but fun to play for the not so avid golfer. Very easy to pick up and play immediately. While the "Live Calendar" tourneys and events are fun, its not online play.

So I would give Links a 9.5 out of 10 and Tiger a 9.0 out of 10. Both are outstanding golf games in their own rights, and deserve to be on the golf maniacs shelf.

I can't judge on Tiger Woods since I've never played it, but I find Links 2004 a great game ! I haven't enjoyed a golf game as much as this since the Leaderboard-series on the Amiga... (anyone still remember the Leaderboard-games by the way ?)

What's challenging in Links is that the gameplay is very easy to pick up and you can become an average player quickly, but to become a real good player takes some practice. A very well balanced game.

Still could have been better if you could customise your player a bit more. But then again, gameplay is far more important...;)

Yes, I've read that too... a new course which would be downloadable as the new PGA tour is starting, but I ain't gonna pay $4.99 for a golf course neither...
