Is downloadable content playable offline?

I'm considering subscribing to XBox Live. Although I'm looking forward to playinfg online, the majority of my play will be offline, so it would be great if all my buddies downloaded the content and we could play offline. Does it work offline?

I'm of the opinion that Xbox Live will make Xbox 2 come to market more quickly. If downloadable content increases enough, people will have full harddrives and will end up having to delete content to recieve the newest content. From what I've seen here, I don't think that would fly with most XBox fans. Does anyone know how big the new content files get?

I don't think the XBox hard drive will ever fill up. I have more than 40 different games saved on it with DLC for RS3, GRIT, MA, and RTCW and it still says I have 50,000+ blocks left...:)
