View Full Version : WP's: Worthless?

I've never liked Willie Petes, but I had an experience last night that convinced me that they're almost totally worthless:

I took a direct hit from a Willie Pete and only lost one bar of health. I've always know that they were weak, but I always assumed that I was just not getting hit directly. A grenade that only nocks one or two bars of health is, in my mind, worthless.

The only advantage is has over a frag grenade is a slighter larger effective blast radius, but what good is that if it barely hurts the enemy? Moreover, its blast radius is only slightly larger than the frag's.

There is one use for WP's however: Very short term smoke screans. The clowd doesn't last very long, but it also develops instantantesly and thermals have more trouble seeing through the hot cloud. But I still prefer frags.

What do you guys think?

Grenades in general are basically worthless in this game. I don't know why people call this game realistic when an M62 Fragmentation Grenade detonates not 10 feet from you and you aren't hurt at all. This grenade has a real kill radius of 15 meters...that's a HELL of alot more than this game. It has a damage radius of 40 meters. I think they should really patch this game up and make it realistic like it is supposed to be.

I understand where your comin from dude, but what game IS as realistic as it comes? I mean yeah there's Ghost Recon but did you like it as much as Rainbow?

As for this discussion, great point and great topic.

I HAVE had GREAT luck with the WP's. There has been a couple of times where i would through the big fella at an enemy (especially in a 1 on 1 situation) and killed them with the blast! I know hard to believe right? On top of that I have also used them as smoke screen nades. I think they're handy, and depending on what map your in, they can do the trick, just get em close to your target and you may be surprised. Frags are more deadly yes, but as for 'handiness'? I dono, I'd say the WP does a pretty good job.

The voice of reason...

Well look 15 meters kill radius needs to be cut down simply because look at the tight quarters and yes I prefer GR over R63 for that reason.. this game is more like UnReal Champion everyone running around like a chicken with ther heads chopped off (PEOPLE WHO KNOW ME KNOW THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS SKILLED PLAYERS DO EMERGE BUT NOT MANY) So.. I will let you reply..

While you do have players running around like chickens with their heads cut off, there are indeed those players that play it smart. I feel most of the DDC is this way. There are a few of us though on certain maps, that know of certain spots to get people and will in fact run straight for them because most of the time those spots shock the opponents, and your almost guaranteed to start mopping up the opponents after that. But of course, it doesn't always work.

i'll weigh in cuz i wanna voice my opinion on this matter....

1st, i've gotten more flashbank kills than grenade kills, so i carry double flashbanks so i have 6 total, and i love em...

2nd, i play feast or famine, if i beat you to "the spot" and work half of your team, i'm feasting, but occasionally i get beaten due to teamates not opening doors or just being flockin retarded and gettin in front of me...

but my theory is, if you're not rushing from the get-go, then people claim your "camping" and nobody wants that attached to em, so i do my thing

so in conclusion, play anyway you want, and stop hating on other people....trying to convert someone to your thinking is not worth the effort...

I think that RS3 takes a much more "team" effort than GR ever did. IN GR you could survive running around by yourself, but that is not the case in RS# (unless playing with a server of noobs). You need backup and the most effective rounds are those where you use teams. Plus, we all know that the maps are smaller than GR and you can flank people pretty easily, therefore backup is a must for covering your 6.
It eally depends what kind of players you are playing with on the makeup of this game. I find it much more squad reliant than GR though.

I think Ghost Recon Needed more skills. Plus how all the weapons were evened out made the game better. Rainbow Six is tactical but I still think Gr is more tactical.

How so?

In GR, Camp = win

In R6, oraganized aggresive tactics slaughter campers.

WP's are much more effective than frag grenades in Rainbow Six 3. They have a stun effect with a thick a burst of thick smoke thrown in. They are very helpful when you find yourself in a shoot out with the last man left on the other team. I have used them to my advantage many times and I plan to continue.
