Just reading the new XBM on page 57-58 I think. It says that when your playing online and you grab someone from behind you will then and only then be able to talk to your enemies (the other team or the other teams guy, not sure which, but I think just the guy). This sounds so freaking cool, it will make it so worth it to sneak up on someone, which has not been that fun since HALO. The amount of trash talk is going way up with this little add on. Anyway whats your thought? I am thinking this maybe one of the coolest new features I have ever heard of on a game, and after taking untold time trying to pistolwip ppl in halo I know I will love this added bonus.:D

No doubt brev. My eyes widened a bit when I read that. Definetely a BIG add on to the gameplay. Start coming up with your tag lines now.

1) Grab in choke hold from behind
2) "Nightie night... {insert slander here}"
3) Hits on the back of head with gun butt.

I wonder, can you use someone as a human sheild then? I don't see why you couldn't. Now that would be nice! Carrying that a little further... If you can talk to the guy whome you have in a hold and he can in turn talk to his team... can you hold him hostage and tell him to have his men stand down? Something to that effect would be intense!

Brev ... that sounds really good .... I need to start taking ore dumps so I can get through my mags .... I am going to have to read through that.
Frag ... somebody at Ubi had to have thought of those ideas hopefully they implement them. It would be sweet of that was a game type. Instead of capture the flag it could be Capture the P.O.W. and escort him back to your base.

Random thought .... how come we aren't game developers??

Imagine getting snuck up on like that. Silence...and then "Don't breathe...." comes over the headset. That'd scare the crap outta me! Hahaha. Great idea, Ubi. Hope they got a couple more tricks up their sleeves. The spy vs. mercenary thing is cool, too.

Yes, as I hear it you can use them as human shields.....sweet Jesus this sounds awsome. I cant wait to sneak in grab some jackass and tell him how much me and his wife/gf are in love while caping his team and when they shoot back its a team kill on them for shooting him. :p

Wouldnt it be hard as hell to sneak up on somebody though?? Most people would probably just stand in a corner to prevent this as opposed to NPCs who usually walk the same path. There would have to be incentives to cooperate with the guy who grabbed you too. Wouldnt you rather just die? I think they'll have to be very creative with the maps for people to sneak up on each other.

Ya look for me with my back to the wall like it was my first night in a bad jail. Or like I had to sleep over at Rude's house.:D

That'll be cool if it is implemented in the final version.

Here's a nice conversation if a Splinter cell captures the enemy.

'Splinter cell grabs a unsuspecting enemy'

Splinter cell: got you!
Hostage: Oh bugger!

'waiting in the dark for your backup team to arrive'

S: So what do you do for a living?
H: I'm a Pizza delivery boy
S: Oh really? I use to be one as well.
H: Really? Cool. So where do you live?
S: I live in England.
H: Yeah I know, I can tell from the accent.
S: Are you from America?
H: Nah, Canada.
S: Oh cool.
H: That accent of yours is funky!
S: Yeah, I know. I sometimes talk to myself for amusement.
H: Ain't that a bit weird?
S: Nah, it's natural.
H: I don't call that natural.
S: Wait I think my team mates wants me to knock you out.
H: Alright.
S: Should I kill you afterwards?
H: Ooh don't, it'll make my pad vibrate.
S: OK then

'Splinter cell smacks hostage in the head and walks away slowly laughing his head off until he gets shot in the head by the enemy. The silence is broken...'

some more info from GameInformer #128 regarding online play

- Choose between Shadow Nets (spies) or Mercenaries.
- Shadow Nets have same move sets, weapons, and controls just like Sam Fisher, relying on stealth ofcourse.
- Mercenaries are more like what you would see from Rainbow Six, in that you play with a First Person Perspective and rely on heavy weapons rather than stealth.
- Arrows to aiming reticules have been added to point where a sound is coming from.
- Shadow Nets can jump on mercenaries' heads and black them out temporarily. They can also use electroshock devices to scramble the HUD or their high-tech goggles. They can even use fire extinguishers to flash-freeze their lenses.
- Shadow Nets can grab a merc from behind, causing that player to lose control over his character.
- Mercs wear masks equipped with a map, motion sensors, and even a mode which allows them to see the electromagnetic impluses generated by the objects and people around them.
- Mercs are also armed with assault rifles and motion-sensitive mines, to ensure that Shadow Nets have to work hard on being stealthy.

Wow this sounds great. I wonder if there is a limit per side to balance out the Shadow Nets to the Mercenaries. Personally, I think playing as a Merc hunting down the spies could be a lot of fun. But trying to hide from the Mercenaries as a spy could be quite the thrill. It's Cats and Mice or Cops and Robbers for xbox live. Maybe they can throw in a "tag" or "hide and seek" mode too.

Cool, I can't wait to play this game. I like the idea of mercenary and Shadow Nets. One playing as third person and the other first person.
