I am thinking of buying a cheap yet reliable set of logitech surround sound speakers. You can see them here http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm?page=products/details&CRID=2&CONTENTID=5047&countryid=19&languageid=1 This site says that you can hook it up to an xbox with an included adapter. If i did this would i get true surround sound, or do i need i more advanced set of speakers? Hopefully i don't because i've heard these ones and they are good quality, and i found them on the web for on 45 bucks!!! thanks for the help

You need the Advanced Av Pack to get true dolby digital 5.1

Then im assuming those logitechs have an optical output, if they do you just run an optical cable from your speakers to the optical input on the advanced AV pack. Then go into your dashboard and turn on Dolby Digital and it will automatically change to 5.1 when it's detected. IMO the best to do it, is to use some type of Reciever or some type of breakout box.

Ok here is the deal. The systems that you have here will give you surround sound, but it will not be to the dolby capable steup that it sounds like you want. That system is made for computers that have a dolby soundcard or something. What you are missing is the dobly decoder, dolby must be output from a digital cable (fiberoptic). Here is what you need

1.Advanced AV pack (http://www.xbox.com/en-CA/Hardware/advanced_av_pack.htm)
2.Optical Cable (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10019057&catid=11348&logon=&langid=EN&dept=11&WLBS=fsweb15)
3.Receiver (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&dept=10&WLBS=fsweb9&sku_id=0665000FS10027010&catid=&newdeptid=10)
4.Speakers

was there not some xbox surround system comeing out? Maybe that would include it all if there is.

Ok here you go a solution

This is a set that you do not require the receiver due to the built in dobly digital decoder. You WILL still require the advanced av pack.
