I took apart my xbox and cleaned my xbox drive like it showed at http://llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/cleaning_your_dvd_drive.htm and it still overheats. I also cleaned out the whole xbox in general. There was alot of dust near one of the internal fans too. It wasn't as hard as I imagined either. I can play the Sims: Bustin Out for hours and it only seems to slow down at points but it never freezes. But when I play GTA3, GTA:VC, or Prince of Persia for more than an hour it seems to want to freeze up. I still haven't tried the aftermarket fan yet, and the dry dvd cleaner I have sucks since it doesn't recognize it so how can I turn it to track two. I'm thinking about buying a wet dvd cleaner and buying a fan and possibly moving the xbox somewhere with a little more room to breath. I just wanted to see what everyone else thought about what I did and need to do.

Read that. Im betting thats your problem. You see thats the way mine started out. First it just froze on certain games. Then one day WHAM! Its a piece of crap that wont read anything for...anything. I suggest you put your warranty into use or find someway to get rid of it before it becomes a valueless piece if vishnu.

It could be the games also, but most likely it is the drive. Mine crapped out a few days ago so I have to go and have it repaired. GTA freezes sometimes, even without a bad drive. I would check what drive that you have though.
