The game is set around 2020 on a set of beautiful tropical islands in the pacific.

It has a strong tropical-paradise feel, scenic in its beauty, but, harbors a terrible threat. It is a mix of jungle / primal / and next-gen technology.

As the player you find yourself hunted by mercenaries without knowing why, and ultimately drawn into a secretive plot.....
Far Cry™ is set in the future that features exciting new elements and 3D worlds set in both vast detailed outdoor and indoor areas. Far Cry™ will showcase the latest AI and physics technologies to recreate the most believable character movements, as well as realtime 3D atmospheric sound rendering, weapon bullets and footsteps as if you were there, in the game.
Real time editing, bump mapping, static lights, network system, integrated physics system, shaders, shadows and a dynamic music system are just some of the state of-the-art features the CryENGINE™ offers.

The CryENGINE™ comes complete with all of its internal tools and also includes the CryEDIT world editing system. Licensees receive full source code and documentation for the engine and tools. Support is provided directly from the R & D Team that continuously develops the engine and can arrange teaching workshops for your team to increase the learning process.
Far Cry is a FPS set in exotic exteriors and claustrophobic indoor locations; the player will go up against groups of skilled mercenary soldiers and must equal or better them to survive.
As the player, you will augment your abilities with various weapons and equipment to aid you throughout the game, as the enemies become more cunning and better equipped themselves.

These tools will augment the tactics available to you as the player, to use, against the enemies and challenges of the game.

Okay, now you've got me all excited. That looks even sweeter then the Halo 2 pics. Please tell me that is coming out in 2004.

It has a slated release date for PC, not Xbox. First quarter 2004 is the general date when it will arrive on PC.

I've been following this game forever. I personally think its going to be better than any game before it when it comes out.

Here (http://downloads.ign.com/game/482383.html) are some videos at IGN. They are pretty sweet.

wow those screens are crystal clear with top notch graphics... way too good. i remember seeing screens for this game before... got me excited, but then i never hear from this game... i like that screen witht he trees casting its shadows on that vehicle and the detail they put into the environments expecially the foliage and ground plants .... too real... bright and not dull colors. incredible

These are PC screens, so it WON'T look this good on the XBox unless they somehow get Directx 9 working on it (even then the graphics processor doesn't support directx 9), and if you have a HDTV. That's the sad truth, it will still look real good though.

I can't wait to try this bad boy on PC. It will probably kill mine though. Everything in this game is highly sophisticated and I don't think my CPU and RAM can handle it. I shall see though.

I hope this game has a better engine then halo pc. That thing could barely run on anyone's system:rolleyes:

I've been waiting on this too. I heard the enemy AI uses sense almost like true vision and hearing to become aware of you. Not like you get withing a certain distance and the enemy know you are there even if you are hiding behind a tree or vehicle.

I'd like to see how it works.

This game uses some DX9 pixel shaders, which the Xbox will have to do DX8 shaders on, but the poly bump mapping will work well on Xbox and that will make those detailed textures look great.

There is a few trailers of this game on www.gametrailers.com check them out, they are quite impressive. The storyline of game seems a little lame though, but should be some good game play.
