I would have to say cable, most DSL services require you to log on, while cable is always connected. Not sure how people with DSL will get their Xbox to logon? That's assuming they have a DSL modem hooked up directly to the Xbox, and not using their PC as a gateway...

I get Cable 1/9/02.. 330kpbs (WOW!) And, my friend has DSL he gets 70kpbs... Cable WINS!

I've had cable since it was only 1 way (dial up to upload, cable speed download) and i've loved it every step of the way

Whatever you do, do not get wireless DSL. It royally sux for gaming. They acted like it would be good for it, then gave us a contract, and now we're stuck.

It gets an upload rate that goes anywhere from 12-102 kbps depending on the second you test it. It has a great download rating anywhere from 500kb/s - 6mb/s, so it's good for webbrowsing and watching movies, but that's it.

The packet loss avg is 15%

There is no definitive answer to this question because the experience is different depending on your provider.

DSL connections might be always on or require a login--depending on your plan.

DSL speed depends on your service agreement and is dedicated

Cable speed depends on your service agreement. When I went from @HOME to Charter my speed dropped by 60% because Charter caps downloads and @HOME didn't.

There are a number of other variables to consider but you probably don't care about them if all you want to do is play XBOX games.

Either one should be fine for the XBOX.

CABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have 10mbps (megabits per second) cable, which is faster than every kind of DSL except SDSL i think.

Not bloody likely.

Install this program and give us a screen shot of your download speed.

I've had both, DSL and cable.

Started with DSL. Ended up with cable.

I'm one of those guys who hated the cable companies. Big monopoly. So, I went with DSL. The DSL I had did not require logging in. I was always on. However, the service was spotty. Would go for long stretches of real god service and then go thru long periods of horrible service. Finally, the end of my DSL expeirence was, my provider went bankrupt, and seven days later me and some 40,000 DSL subscribers were left with NOTHING.....NOTHING.

At that point, I realized the value of a good ol fashioned monopoly. Cablevision wont be going out of business anytime soon! So, we switched to cable, and it was much simpler to install, and have not had any problems whatsoever, and it is faster.

As far as broadband intenet gaming with the xbox, i dont have a clue, but, I'm DYING to learn more about it.

I meant 10mbps InterNIC card.

I have 1.6mbps Speed.

Faster than T1.

T1 = 1.5mbps Speed
