Halo 2 Weekly Updates from HBO

There will be updates every week from now on. Here is today's update, not much but it's a start.

Well the first one was posted on 1/16/04 (Friday) so I assume that the next will be posted next Friday (1/23/04).

Yeah, they have been playing multiplayer for months. Multiplayer is just as big as the story to Bungie, so everything gets planned before a single polygon is made.

Well we know there is system link, split screen, co-op, LIVE play (no details), and Human vs. Covenant battles. If you want to go into detail, you'll have to wait for the info to be released in the coming weeks.

You didn't know? It was in the EGM Halo 2 Special back in November 2002 on page 216.



It will feature full-blown online battles between an army of armor-suited Master Chiefs and alien Elites.


I don't know of any press scans, but that's what I read out of my mag.

well it looks like it'll most def come out between march-april. i know its gonna come out soon bc he is doing the weekly updates and it would be a pain to write everything every single week all through november. so as soon as he gets to the end of the all the details, halo 2 will just be around the corner.

I'm not saying that Halo 2 won't be out soon, but the Halo updates (http://halo.bungie.org/haloupdates/allupdates.html) from Matt Soell lasted for exactly 364 days (October 6, 2000 to October 5, 2001). I am still expecting a Spring 2004 release date, but we can only speculate.

As soon as Bungie has a release date they know thay can make, they will release it. They are just withholding it because they don't want to have it be wrong and piss everyone off. Just be patient, it will be released this year.

Bungie won't release a date until they know for sure they can get it out then. They are avoiding any possible delays in doing so. Don't worry about it.

I know they said that halo 2 might be the last halo, but since it's microsoft I dont' think it will be, they would make so much money off of halo 2 and it would be a HUGE launch title for xbox 2.


So if there is going to be a halo 3, mark-april does fit into the timeline for another game for xmas of 2005ish.

The only thing that's been said that even comes close to this is in the EGM Halo 2 special. It says that in Halo you encountered disaster after disaster and ultimately saved humanity in 3 different ways, but when the game ended you were still where you started. (That was said by Jason Jones btw)

Microsoft can't force Bungie to make another game, it is completely up to the developer. The developer presents its idea to the publisher, and the publisher funds the idea if it accepts it. I think you meant to say Halo 3, because Halo 2 WILL be on Xbox, and it WILL be out in 2004.

I get what he's saying. I dont agree, as it's a real shot in the dark, but i understand the point he's trying to make. He's saying that IF there is a Halo 3, its possible it would come out at that time, considering the time between Halo and Halo 2. Complete shot in the dark, but that is what he's trying to say. I guess I understand it more, but there are too many unknown variables for him to even think of saying it.

1. We don't know when Halo 2 will be out (just 2004).

2. We don't know if there will be a Halo 3 (not even Bungie).

3. We don't know when the next Xbox will be out (2005 or 2006).

But hey, wishful thinking can't hurt :)

I went here (http://www.bungie.net/perlbin/blam.pl?file=%2Fsite%2F0%2Fdatabases%2Fview_database.html&dbid=16&rowsperpage=30&submit=Go+%3E) and found alot of things that I didn't know... human vrs. convent is confirmed here, also the ablity to lower your gun and run faster, peek around corners, and shoot out lights and hide in the shadows. Uber-fantastic :cheers:

Bungie has always stood by our policy of not giving out release dates for any of our titles. To put it simply, Halo 2 will be done when it's done. We're all as eager as you to get our hands on this amazing game but perfection takes time.

For now, Matt has already confirmed that the Summer 2003 dates being shown on various retail websites are definitely not accurate. When we do have a solid release date, we will post it here on Bungie.net. Until then, any Halo 2 release dates you hear should be considered extremely unreliable.

Doesn't microsoft own bungie, therefore microsoft does what they want with them. Buisness wise I think it would be a bad idea not to have halo 3 on xbox 2 just because thats gaurented sales, but thats just buisness wise, and we all know microsoft......

I think bungie will want to do a halo 3 and end it about there, seems kinda like their style.

bungie dosent have to make halo 3. being that they are one of the best develpoers, im sure they can create anothe awesome FPS or maybe a WWII game-like such as battlefeild and call of duty. who knows what the future brings.

I agree. Bungie is worth to much for MS to be telling them what to do and what not to do. Halo, I think was the only acception where MS forced them to rush the game since they(MS) needed a really good launch title. Since it did so well, MS let them take as long as they want because right now X-box it able to stand it's own ground.

They're gonna proly "wait" and let the sales for the XB version to top out at some point, and then turn it over to be ported to PC.

p.s I'm not going to make up my mind about wanting a Halo 3 until after Halo 2. You never know where the story might go, and I'd hate to see this title tainted by a bad part 3..*cough*godfather*cough*

It looks like they are pretty much done with Halo 2. Bungie is now hiring a finishing artist. Now I know what's going on!:D The guy on the left is playing Gamecube. The guy in the middle is playing the PS2 Eyetoy, and the guy on the left I can't tell. Probably some Xbox game (maybe Halo 2 MP:D) A finishing artists puts all the rest of the detail in the game it needs.
Bungie had this in their add "Are you the kind of artist that loves to make things look better, no matter who built the original? Do you have a desire to take a space and blow holes through the ceilings, letting sunlight filter through the lush vegetation that hangs down from above? Also, it isn't a video. It is just a bunch of pictures that update showing what's going on. And I do have a few weird finds that are saved onto my computer.

This Friday is the annual Bungie Winter Pentathlon and once again we're asking you to vote for which team you think will walk away with the coveted cup. Though many of you voted otherwise, the Newbies emerged victorious at our Summer Pentathlon last year. Will you pick the winner this time?

The Winter Pentathlon pits 4 Bungie teams against one another in a grueling tournament of game mastery. The games on the agenda this year are Halo 2, Mario Kart Doulbe Dash, Top Spin, Eye Toy and Pictionary. As usual, teams are broken up by seniority with people being assigned to either The Grizzled Ancients, Old School, Middle School or Newbie squads.

Naturally I'm biased towards my own team, the Newbies, but after our strong decisive victory at the Summer Pentathlon, we've got a good shot at claiming the cup once again. Cast your vote and stay tuned for a blow by blow report when the dust has settled.
