Will halo 2 support dedicated servers? That would be so awesome. How many connections allowed at the same time in MP? 4, like now? Maybe 8?

oldi1knoby, I have no idea. I'm guessing yes.

Anyhoo, moved this over to the Halo 2 Discussion area, where it belongs.

like any other game servers, they can host 16, but there are rumors that they are planning to have 24 players.

Yes there are going to be dedicated servers. Bungie has made a deal with HomeLAN (orsomething likethat) to run these servers...which means that is kick a**...

HomeLAN in the House

Are you sick and tired of team-killers and profanity spewing insult artists ruining your game of Halo? Today we're happy to announce that Bungie and HomeLAN have entered into a partnership to bring peace and justice to the sometimes cruel world of Halo online. HomeLAN's team of experienced admins will be lending their expertise and services to all of our official BUNGIE servers to make sure the online experience is great for everyone.

"To work with Bungie directly in supporting the Halo online community is an exciting opportunity for ourselves and our admins. We're eager to lend the benefit of admin availability and moderation to the Official servers." - Adam Vener, Director - HomeLAN.

In addition to admin support, HomeLAN will be hosting a few more Official servers on both coasts, which will provide even more spots for players looking for a quality game of Halo.

As of today, we're wiping the slate clean and resetting the ban logs for all of the BUNGIE servers. Going forward, the HomeLAN admins, along with the auto team-killing functions of the dedicated server, will do their best to make sure everyone is having fun and playing nicely with each other. All of our servers will be sharing one central ban list, so don't get the idea that you're going to be an ass on BUNGIE-CTF1 and then just jump on BUNGIE-CTF2 when you get banned. That's not gonna work. Before you jump online, please take a minute to review the Official Rules and make sure you understand what is and isn't allowed on our servers. You'll also find some more information about the HomeLAN admins as well as contact info for any questions or issues regarding their admin services.

well, bungie is very ambitous with all their projects. All the stuff that current FPS's have should be included, such as the rag doll and real time physics thatw e are all getting so used to (max payne 2, deus ex invisible war)......

Halo 2 will be perfect......

I know realistically, thats an overstatment, but i think bugie will have dedicated servers, if not im sure microsoft could run some, even if they charge for it....which would be hell....

Honestly, unless the levels are very large and the game is slightly more complex, I wouldn't want to play with any more than 16 players. Right now, 10 is the limit for me. It's just too confusing and I think that it would seriously lag the game with so many people.

It'll be fine whatever they do. Bungie tests their online system vigorously and thoroughly. I really wouldn't sweat it.
