So remember last year when we told you we don't announce release dates until we're confident well meet our deadline? Well now were confident. Halo 2 will ship in Fall, 2004. Please make a note of it.

Since you are our most important audience we wanted to tell you first. We've enjoyed your support, your patience and your loyalty, so this is the least we could do.

There will be a fair number of new details and announcements to follow over the next few months, and of course theres always E3. Here at Bungie.net, as you've recently witnessed, were ramping up a campaign of new content, details and snippets of info, just to keep you sated while you get ready for Fall. Until then, feast your eyes on the first ever Multiplayer screenshot of Halo 2, and check out this week's UPDATE. Can you smell the bacon yet?

Fall is a date? Always thought it was a season. :p Well, not a big surprise here. If Fable drops this spring, then I'll definitely have the time to really crack out on Halo 2, now.

Man, oh man, that MP screenie is nice. The colors on the Master Chief's are a bit bright, don't you think? Still, check out that rocket thing. I was kinda hoping to see some Elites in the shot, but oh well. Soon enough, I suppose.

I seem to remember someone posting something about MS not being happy w/ the multiplayer portion of the game. I imagine they have to fine tune that, and probably want to go through the code w/ a fine tooth comb.

As long as it means a better game, I'm not too concerned.

guys didnt they say for sure it will b out in fall? They could finish earlier and launch it sooner :D But fall that sux so much. To looong Ill b in grade 10 and then school is back and even more homework and blah. They should launch it in APRIL OR NOW!!!!!

I say it will get delayed again until the holiday season shopping time. Or this is a delay for the holiday shopping. I say late fall like october/novemberish

I predict November 15th, 2004. That day makes the most sense of any if it's coming out in the fall.

All I have to say is...fable better come out early summer or else I might shoot myself b/c this about ruined my night.

On the bright side, I was expecting a post-E3 release because they really didn't show much the last time (just wait for the next trailer!), plus, this means the game will be much better if not 100x better than it would've been and we have a release date we can count on being right /w no delays.

I totally called christmas 2004. Fall is further away than you think. Remember, it ends on Dec 21. This game could basically be 11 months away. Even if they somehow finish it by late august or early september, I honestly believe Microsoft will push it back closer to christmas.

This is somewhat of a relief. I was all anxious because the widely believed release of spring was drawing nearer and there was no real word of when the game would be released. Now I can finally rest assure I'll be playing this fine game, summer 2005. You don't honestly believe it'll be out this year, do you? :P

Bungie doesn't release dates unless they are sure of them. Microsoft won't push it back because they will make a oversized buttload of money no matter when they release it. They are aware of that.

I agree, it will sell well whenever it gets released, but I think it will be more about bragging rights for Microsoft.

man, that pic looked really sweet! I liked the colors, and of course there will be many others. I'm kinda disappointed about Fall. :( I was hoping for march or april of this year. Oh well, I just hope Fable comes out before summer.

I was upset earlier by this but now I am glad. Think about it, the best game ever getting delayed to be better.

Hopefully this is what they will have.

32 players max.(of course the level will be very big)

Hopefully you will be able to drive dropships in multiplayer

well, i was reading the weekly update and saw that they mention something about making a huge map. i think this gives us a clue that they will support over 16 players. who knows

There is a good chance Halo 2 will be out in September:

I don't know. Most people have no idea what significance Nov 15 has, and others, like myself, don't really care. Besides, nothing happened last year. I'm hoping october, and if I were the the fiscal advisor at Bungie, it'd be my suggestion. For some reason, though, I don't see it coming out until december.

I concur, when I would see the abbreviation swfm, I'd immediately think, single white female.
