The older Xbox models with the Philips and Thomson drives cant read 99.9% of CD-R's... However they will read most CD-RW's. If you dont want to use CD-RW's I recommend getting the Xbox Music Mixer of you have Windows XP. If you have Windows XP you can transfer your MP3 files directly to the Xbox using networking cable.

What do you mean you can't? Burned audio cds? I do it all the time if that's what you're talking about. Almost all of my Van Halen etc. was burned then put on my XBOX hard drive.

Hmmm...that's strange, I have downloaded some burned CD's on to my XBOX, though this is one of the newer ones, and my older on didn't reconize them. Oh and I'm pretty sure I used CD-R

hmm about the windows xp thing. is this possible without a modchip? i thought you couldn't transfer files over a network without the music mixer software. but if it is it would be nice

I said you needed music mixer... I just said windows so much because you can only transfer files with music mixer if you have windows XP.
