Nice in-depth look on this very anticipated game :)

Right off the bat that guy said something that made me doubt anything he said from there on. HDTV resolutions not as good as PC resolutions?

1024x720...
1920x1080...

Come on...

Most poeple only play games at 1024x768 if not 800x600 anyway.

Well he is half right. 1920x1080 on an HDTV is interlaced, effectively half of that resolution. I would much rather play a game on the PC at 1280x1024 or 1600x1200 than 1920x1080 on an HDTV. But since we've only had a couple games on the xbox that are 1080i or even 720p it is a lost cause for this gen.

I haven't played a PC game lower than 1024x768 for years and 800x600 since 1998 with voodoo 2 chipsets. Most I play are 1280x1024 or 1600x1200, but I am having to scale down to 1024x768 with the new demos like UT2k4. Waiting for the NV40 to come in April for my next upgrade.

One thing that may make me lean towards the Xbox version of Doom3 will be the sound. So if they can make the graphics as good as possible, considering the low 720x480 res then I'll be happy. Glad they are taking their time and really attempting to tweak it for the Xbox.

I wonder if they will be able to squeeze enough power out of the Xbox for HDTV resolutions. What with my new setup coming, I would be much obliged.
:D

Heh the res should still be cool on the Xbox. Hopefully the Xenon (Xbox 2 or Next..whatever they choose) will support 1080p. They've actually started to display them at Brandsmart.

Oh I'm sure you would be. :D

480p will be the highest we get out of Doom3 on the xbox though. I wonder if they will bother giving us widescreen.

Wow. That game looks tricked out. I'll be getting that upon it's release. What's the deal with mutated spiders? I see they are in Doom just like Unreal The Awakening. Been killing the little *******s all day on that game. :D

Happy Gaming!

Well, Xbox version will be near this...but did everyone have a high-end PC to play this game...i doubt that. So get a Xbox version, play it on the HDTV will be near this.

That small difference is what separates PC from xbox...the smallest difference mean soo much.

I think buying an AWESOME PC, around 3 grand, would be cheaper than buying and awesome HDTV.

Id rather shell out $3000.00 on a multipurpose PC, than a HDTV.

But what if you already had an HDTV? Wouldn't it then be pointless to shell out those 3k?

Not me...home electronics all the way (IMO)...my HDTV is the best damn thing I've ever bought :)

We should just stop trying to compare the Xbox to a PC and enjoy what we have. Its never going to compare to even a self built $500 budget system these days even with HDTV. Although, a PC will never have a Lazyboy sitting in front of a 55 inch projection TV like the Xbox will...then again people could hook a PC up to the TV, but theres not much point doing that since it will look like S**t vs a good monitor.

Anyway, they will either decrease the gfx quality to allow HD resolutions or go all out on standard resolution. The Xbox doesn't have near enough power to do both. I hope they go all out on standard resolutions.

EDIT: oh yeah, HDTV resolution is nice, but the Xbox is still limited to crappy textures due to the limited RAM. Xbox 2 will be perfect for HDTV.

Man, the first Doom was already fun enough, I can't wait for them to release the new beast.
