Turn Base or real time fighting?

Which do you prefer in an RPG game, turn base fighting where you stand there picking out the right option of offense/defense, thinking strategically and be a spectator throughout or real time where you just go in there and start hack 'n' slashing your way through and it makes you be apart of the action?

I'd say real-time just because thats what the N64 zelda games used and FF games bore me, but then again I bought morrowind:GOTY today and to be honest, I'm really, really, really disappointed with the combat system. Its kinda glitchy, slow, looks bad, and you only have a few moves.

I've seen other people play Morrowind and I too must admit it was disappointing. In fact it was utter crap, the fighting I mean.

Depends on the game. I like both, but do prefer something w/ more substance. You seem to get that out of turn-based games, more, I believe. I like having the time to consider my options and such, and loved KotOR for this. Also a big reason I think Fallout is one of the best RPG's of all time....

I suppose it really all depends on the game itself. KotOR's method of combat wouldn't work in, say, Morrowind. It just wouldn't.

i prefer realtime cuz it involves quicker reflexes
but turn based relys on stragedie

i like realtime because i find it more fun

I like games where you just rip up hoardes and hoardes of enemies and watch corpses fly. Those are my kind of games.

I also agree that Morrowind's fighting system is horrible. It's the reason I traded the game in a week after I bought it.

I like realt time. The FF series bored me to hell with their take turn attacks. I actually ended up sellin FF10 about 5 hours after I bought it.:( Oh yeah Zelda is the best game ever :D

i agree about the Zelda games. The N64 Zelda games were masterpieces in every aspect. Their fighting system was my fav. so far. I don't have anything good to say about the Windwaker because I haven't played it, but I know that the cellshading makes it look like crap.

There are some games that I just cant imagine playing with turn based fighting and some games I cant imagine playing with real time fighting. I couldnt imagine final fantasy, where you sometimes have what like 3 or 4 other people with you? you would hardly get to do any of the fighting because the rest of your team would just kick the crap out of everyone. Then theres games like morrowind that would just seem so lame with turn based fighting.
