Hey I dont know about you guys but I think it is sad seeing so many people ready to kill for halo 2.... I mean every time there is hype lots of people are disapointed now lets just keep in mind the fact that the producers of this game are human beings and should not be blamed when it turns out it is easy to beat and not much improvement on multiplayer:D JUST CHILLLLL...

Um...wrong forum?
Anyway, I don't know why anyone is complaining anyway. Everyone was expecting it too soon. There have been NO delays. Bungie never gave a release date until recently, fall 2004. If bungie says it's fall 2004, it's fall 2004.

I applaud your intelligence, glad to see other people like me ;)
Anyways, on topic, trust in Bungie. They are the jaded crowd.

LoL. Thanks zero.
Anyway, yup, gotta trust in Bungie. They have been honest so far. When they give a release date, they mean it.
At least this isn't valve or rare. Talk about delays...

Personally, I'm just stoked that Bungie finally gave a release date...errr...more like time-frame. Fall 2004 is the first time Bungie said anything....I can't believe how many people I have to correct regarding this simple issue.
But, anyway...that still buys Bungie 3 months since Fall consists of three months. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Nov 15th, 2004...Nov 15th ring a bell? ;)

Ya thats a lot farther away then i thought... since a year ago the word was it was comin out q4 2003.. they should just say they dont know if they really dont have any idea about a games release:)

Why tell us to just chill?? You don't see rampant XBA'ers going crazy because it is coming out Fall. A lot of us are happy because Bungie gets more time to make it better. Who are you telling to chill? Or are you talking about that Trill Ville guy?

jacfrost, people and companies like amazon and ebgames SHOULD say they don't know when it's coming out, but people are stupid and the companies want money from pre sells so they guess.

To collect money on pre-orders for games, you are required by law to post a release date, even if there isn't one. Therefore, game companies go by what they think, and fabricate their own date, even if it is false. So don't call them stupid, they are a LARGE source for economical growth.

Zero flaw, I didn't call the companies stupid. I called people who come on and say they know the release date stupid. I just said the companies do it to make money.

Yes, people are stupid in that context.

Actually I think it makes perfect sense. Why would a government let businesses collect money on a product that the consumer has no idea when they will receive it?
RathitzTretz
02-17-2004, 07:19 PM
The consumer still has no idea when they will receive it because it is almost never released when the company says it is. People pre ordered halo 2 because companies lied to them and said it was going to be released in march or april. Now those people have to wait until fall. That is ridiculous.

That is because they didn't listen to the creator of the product who PLAINLY SAID that it would be released in 2004. If you believe a non-credible source (game retailer) rather than the actual producer, that is YOUR fault. So there is no basis for complaint because you are gullible, when you should KNOW that game retailers make up dates for preorders.
RathitzTretz
02-17-2004, 09:02 PM
But the average consumer who simply goes to a store and asks the clerk when a game will be released doesn't know that. The retailers are taking advantage of people and it is a rip off.
themoosearmy
02-17-2004, 11:05 PM
Its all a matter of marketing. The people at the store level have nothing to do with it. Its the marketing officials inside EBGames that contact MS (not Bungie) and ask when the game is going to be done. They put an April or may stamp on it because it seems like a good date, a long reasonable time, and people start preordering. Microsoft had March 04 listed as Halo 2's release date for a long time, but was that even right...no.

I know it isn't right. I said it isn't right. It's wrong. I'm not saying it's the clerks fault, but what I'm saying is it's the company's fault and they shouldn't do it unless the developer gives a release date. And then if it is delayed the blame falls solely on the developer

The thing is, a lot of people want to reserve copies of things because they want it when it comes out, so they aren't screwed and have to wait for a new shipment. This is true for anything you want to buy. Movies, games, you name it. If a company offers a reserve or preorder, they are required BY LAW to give a release date, and by preordering you agree that the date given is subject to change.

Ya it is really disappointing, I know a lot of people pay for a game and they are told they are paying for a game coming out a year earlier then it actually is.... really frusterating. which is why I think we should change that stupid law so that they can't give a release date for a pre buy unless they know it because if you want to buy it early and dont care when it comes out thats fine... but they should be honest and say they dont know and people can still reserve it early. I think it is false advertising otherwise.
RathitzTretz
02-18-2004, 12:08 AM
A lot of other people reserve it because they are told by the company it is coming out soon and they pre order it. They think it is a fact. Then there is all of a sudden a 6 month delay and they are screwed. Companies shouldn't have to lie. The law is ridiculous. If they don't know they should say they don't know.

It can't be delayed because they never gave the date. Everyone seems to be saying over and over and over.... but the sad thing is people need to be told it!
RathitzTretz
02-22-2004, 01:54 AM
No, people don't need to be told it. That is just what people have grown accustomed to, but then they are let down when there is a delay. Bungie tries to avoid that problem by only giving a release date when they are sure they can meet it.
