Does anyone know why there seem to be more games that support 720p than 1080i? Why do some games support both and some do not? I know the differences between the format and that the games have to be programmed for each format, but is 720p just easier to develop, or would supporting both require more memory?

1080i = 1920x1080 resolution
720p = 1280x720 resolution

Mathematics solve that one.

It is a shame that more games don't use either resolution. HD support is the #1 reason I bought into the Xbox in the first place, but it ended up being a forgotten feature, or overly ambitious for the Xbox hardware. I think it is the former as there isn't a game on the Xbox that I have seen that couldn't be run at at least 720p.

I think its because of technical difficulties. its like running 640 x 480 on your PC vs. 1240 vs. 768.

it takes more bandwidth, hence more power from the Xbox...just wait until Xbox2 (X2) comes out, more games will be supported in higher def. modes.
