View Full Version : Will Halo 2 Have Sys-Link?

I hope Halo 2 has the sys-link enabled. There's nothing better than the giant 16 person Halo tournies, where everyone's chilling, and throwing back a few beers in between rounds, and screaming and getting all crazy during the rounds.

I definately hope that they don't take that element out of the game, and concentrate solely on XBL.

I think it's inevitable that Halo 2 will have system link...there's no question.

Except, rumor is, you will likely be able to get 32 dudes together instead of just 16. ;)

Think of the beer bill now!

Yes Halo 2 LANs will be GODLY. I just hope XBL doesn't discourage them :(

Honestly, dude...I think Halo 2 on XBL will own...however, there's nothing like chillin' with buddies and drinkin' beer while playing Halo in a LAN.......nothing.

If anything, my favorite beer will discourage me to play Halo 2 on XBL if I have the option to play in a LAN

I really do hope they are thinking of us offliners. Half of the people who owns an xbox doesn't have XBL so lets hope they don't think about XBL only.

Actually, it's a lot less than half. There about 750,000 livers out there, and there are far more than a million and a half xbox owners.

I think Microsoft is betting to double or even triple Live membership when this game comes out, and I'm betting with them.

But LAN play will always be king because it's more fun to talk trash to your friends than to strangers who may get angry over it. Of course, live is any time you want, while lan games can be a total chore to set up.

Bungie won't take away what made the first game fun.

You can trust in them. :)

That is prolly Halo's best feature. no system link = no xbc = a very angry moose = no lan parties. Ahhhhhhhhh.

Bungie is keeping system link and adding XBL, so no worries.

i can't see 32 on system link, since you can't link anymore than 4 Xboxes together, unless someone can come up with something saying you can system link 8 boxes... i doubt it though.

All you would need is an 8 port HUB or Switch...and Eight TVs.

Personally, I think it's hard enough to get 16 dudes to cooperate when a game is starting...let alone 32...

But, it's very doable.

Even if you wanted 16 dudes, you could still have 2 dudes to each TV...that in itself would make this worthwhile, IMO.

Star Wars: Battlefront has 32 for system link. (OXM mag, last month's preview)

i guess i just assumed since Xbox has always said, link up to 4 Xboxes together for LAN play, i didn't think it would support more than 4.

You can use more than one hub/switch/router/whatever and it works just the same. :)

(You have to for games like Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six, that only allow one person per box, and 16 total)

LAN parties are what its all about! Nothing like getting the flag and being able to high five your friends when you score the winning point.

Yea, there are always Sys. Link games on campus. I live off-campus, but that doesn't really stop me from getting some Sys. Link games going. I can always phone some guys in the dorms if I'm bored and want to play some Halo also.

But 32 people... holy crap, that'll take a really big house for that many people. No way I could get 32 into my appartment, lol. That's gotta be designed with one thing in mind; college dorms.

Q Will there be multiplayer bots?
A We have not made a final decision regarding bots yet. The team has heard the cries of fans and we're exploring ways to make multiplayer games more enjoyable for gamers with only 2 controllers and no Live access.

Courtesy of www.bungie.net

I think there will be offline multiplayer and by the looks of it
System Link also because the game has to appeal to the
non-LivE players also in the world. Because we all know that
4 tv's and 16 players in one room is the best lan party available
especially when the beer KEG is in the center of the room!

If Bungie is stupid enough to put bots in the game, it better be for offline only

just gotta have a monitor adapter and you could cary around a flat panel monitor and an xbox, without having to lug around a 25" TV. :D

Don't use the word stupid in the same sentence as the word Bungie.

Yes, Sys. Link will support far more than 4 boxes. My biggest fear was whether or not they were going to keep split screen in. I mean, 4 per screen is what made our weekly lan party worth it. We'd get 12-16 people every monday. It was perfect. The thing is, if we needed more TV's and/or Xboxes it would have proved prohibitive. Even if everyone had an Xbox, very few had a TV available (and compact enough) to lug over. Most of the people who plyed with us on mondays have since purchased an Xbox. However, Halo has remained the ONLY game we play on mondays. No other game since has had split screen. We all have boxes. We have hubs and cables and everything, but we aren't about to go out and buy 12 more TV's so we can all link up (like we'd have a place to put them anyways). We would all own a copy of Rainbow Six right now if it split. Same for RTCW, and a few others. Please please do not make this mistake for Halo 2. At LEAST support 2 per TV. Less than that and it goes the way of the others. Can't play it because it won't support our needs.

Bungie won't take out split screen. It would completely ruin the multiplayer experience and (I think) Ubi Soft is the only developer so far that has removed split screen.

My friends and I play friday night Halo, and we all can usually get enough TVs and boxes, the problem is usually not enough controllers. We started it out as two xbox's and two tvs, but everyone that has come over to play has bought an xbox and halo, and now we are up from 2v2 to usually 5 on 5 or rarely 6+ on 6+. If they took out split screen....Halo multiplayer would be no more.

If they make 32 that will be so very freakin sweet. :yikes: There is a local gaming store here & they have 16 xboxs with 8 copies of Halo & 5 of Counter Strike & a bunch of other cool games. All of the xboxes are on a LAN & we have Halo tournaments all the time. He just got DSL hooked up today & setup XBC. So I'm going back up there tonight once I get done w/my job at Fredex (Federal Express). I think I will go postal if you can't have more than just 16 people. :cuss:

I have heard rumors about more than Red & Blue teams does anyone know this as a fact or is it just speculation?
