An employee at Gamestop told me today that BUNGIE has finally set a release date of Sept. 1, 2004 for Halo 2.
He stated that previous release dates were not to be trusted as they were from Microsoft or some other third-party, but that this release date was from BUNGIE themselves.
Can anyone verify this? I went to the BUNGIE site and couldn't find anything to support this.

Gamestop and EB employees are complete slime when it comes to getting people to reserve titles. THis post only further enforces my opinion. I've had employees for these chains lie to my face about things they could never know just to get a measely $5.00 for a reserve.
They try to make me feel like every game that is ever released is going to be impossible to find for weeks if I don't reserve it. Doesn't that only happen with Nintendo titles anyways?
I've given up on EB and Gamestop stores. Now I go to Circuit City or Best Buy, they have better deals anyways.
EB and Gamsetop employees are snippy little $5.00 hookers for every reserve they get.

Game Crazy has September 3rd....
Personally, I think they are just setting a date only to get people to reserve the game.
By the way, Zero...didn't you say to "mark my word" when you said that Halo 2 was coming out in September sometime?

Yeah, but it is an educated guess on my part. I only know that Fall is the closest you can get. I still stand on September. :)

Now he tells me!
That does explain why he was rubbing my thigh, though.

Is Fable ever coming out? Jade Empire should come out eventually, probably before Fable too.
Developers shouldn't set a release date until the game has gone gold.

Seriously, dudes...don't trust any source unless it's on Bungie's website. We could potentially go crazy...

Agreed.
Even more so, we all can't wait for this game, so don't you think that if a solid (and specific) release date was announced ALL of us would know about it in about 10 seconds and there would be about 15 threads about it all over the XBA forums?
After all, the Fall 2004 release information was instantainous and even was on the front page of this site....

Good point, Angell...
And besides, everyone think about it for a sec...if some website or game store says that Halo 2 is coming out, let's say "September 1, 2004", for example... do you find yourself asking a ton of people if this is true? But, then, at the same time you don't hesitate to ask anyone if you read it right on Bungie's website?
I think that says enough...seriously. Bungie's website will have the release date...right now, they confirm Fall 2004. Fall consists of 3 months...so, they bought themselves some flexibility...but, even that I am happy with! No more wondering when the best damn XBox game is coming out! :D
