this is just annoying - help

ok i'm always asking for xbl help. it int my fault!!!!

amyway, i just yesterday or day b4 got my xbox online and wooohoooo go me. but its a tempermental piece of crap. i switch it on and it dont work, try again and same. then an hour later i just switchit on and it connects. i know everythings good because i can connect up my 2 computer with the same cable. and i have played for 4 hours already. i believe the back of my xbox may be faulty, any ideas before i take my xbox down the local pc shop to have a look-see.

Are you using a router? Maybe you should assign it IP properties so it's static rather than using dynamic - does your ISP require this? The PC shop won't do a thing for it. Check your network cables (have you tried them on the PC's do see if it's stable?)

Call Xbox Tech support if you still have problems.

Yep, I ended up having to set up a lot of things manually. I wouldn't disconnect from live when I first got it, because it could be a day or two before it would connect again.

Call 1-800-4myxbox, it took awhile, but they got me hooked up.

i'm not using a router. i've just got an ethernet cable running from my laptop to my xbox. as i said i know the cable is good 'cos can connect my laptop and pc, so thats why i think there is a problem with my xbox. i'll have to wait a week now till i call the xbox help line so i'll see if anything chnages by then.

my dad reckons its the back of the xbox thats a problem, just guessing of course, but it does sound likely now.
