This does have to do with the release date, but it's not a "when is it coming out?" one.
I was surfing amazon.com and found this last night:

If a release date isn't from Bungie, it isn't true until it is confirmed by Bungie. As of right now, Halo 2 will be out in the Fall (September 21 - December 21). That is all that has been confirmed thus far.

Yeah, panzer, they give a best guess/ estimate to increase pre-orders. A date usually brings more in than simply a TBD.

Zero swears it's coming out in Sept., but I imagine we won't know the exact date for at least a few more months.

The Tru7h!

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, and if I'm right, I'm right. But don't take what I say about the release date as gospel, because I am just making an educated guess based on available information.

Pretty much every retailer has release dates...but, none are confirmed unless it's on Bungie's website.

It's best to hear it from the perverbial "horse's mouth", so to speak :)
