Fable - GDC 2004

The theme for this year's Game Developers' Conference centers around evolution; more specifically, the evolution of games as a medium, through innovation. Year after year, developers search for new ideas, concepts, and ideologies that will push interactive entertainment into the next-generation. For nearly four years, Peter Molyneux has pursued the rarely obtainable goal of innovation with Fable. While many in the community of gamers have been skeptical of the game's execution, Fable certainly isn't a fairy tale; rather, the game will undoubtedly prove to be one of the most ambitious and impressive projects ever developed.

Once Upon A Time

Fable began without a name, several years ago, conceived only as Project Ego. In the course of its development, Peter Molyneux, director of Lionhead Studios, described the hopes of designing a new kind of role-playing experience. While most massively multiplayer online games afford plenty of non-linear play, Fable would not only facilitate such an experience, but actually impact the visual presentation of the game and hero. By performing various acts in the game, your hero would choose good acts or evil acts; ultimately, the balance between these morally-imbued actions would affect the moral alignment of your hero and influence his appearance. An immense undertaking, Fable not longer lies in the realm of concept, but instead in reality, fully realizing these promises.

Nice find thrAsher and interesting tidbits of info. Your right about the temple thing and I find the more you think about a game like this, the more you appreciate the guys who make games like this. In otherwords, take all the time you need if you can actually produce such a complex, impressive and inovative game.

There's another preview. Brief, but again, a positive one. I'm hoping some real revelations as to gameplay mechanics and such, as well as a release date (!!!), will come to us at E3.
