Taking what we know about the game, post the kind of hero you want to make in Fable.

My dude, probably named Laertes, will definately be a good guy. For some strange reason I have a hard time choosing the evil path in videogames. He will concentrate on the sword and bow, no using the womanly art of magic like a dear lass. Because I like to be miserable, I will have a wife in at least three towns, if not more. I shall be followed about by two to three followers, all comely maidens. Given to anger, I can't promise Laertes won't break his own code of ethics from time to time in order to lop the heads off of idiots who talk stupid s*** to his face.

My guy, named Rayne (like all other RPGs), will probably be a neutral guy. I'll just do whatever I feel like doing. If doing something benefits me in anyway I'll do it, whether its right or not doesn't matter. I'm probably going to go around by night for the most, so I'll look all eerie like a vampire lol. I wouldn't mind owning a town, too, thatd be cool.

I say all this now of course, but it could all change if the game ever gets here.

My first character will be named something along the lines of Sirloin. I will steal all of the towns food and eat it. I will become so obese, kids will scream and run away when I break into the school and flick the teachers off. I will force my wife to cook for me, day, and night. I will try to go fishing, but the boat will collapse beneath me. I will then proceed to drown. The town guards will try to save me, but I'll be much too fat for them to pull me out. I will die at the age of 29, 500 pounds.

My first character will probably be named Drake and will probably be sort of a bad guy, but a good guy too. Whichever guild I join I will do whatever I have to to get to the top (including destroying other guilds). Well, really I don't plan on being that good at all, I'm not going to go around murdering people, but I'll definately decapitate anyone who gets in my way. I'll probably be best with the bow and swords also, but its hard to tell because we aren't sure what all kinds of weapons are available. (did yall know you could customize your weapons and armor).

Is that a character from a line of D&D books? I've never read any D&D books but I remember a friend of mine telling me about some dark elf character who wielded two scimitars. I just thought that was a bit rediculous.

I'll play as a good guy, but not too good. Not like everyone in the movies that won't shoot the bad guy in the head because then "he would be no better then the bad guy." Man, F**k that! There is a difference between being a good guy and being a flat out pu**y.

It should be tons of fun.

Of course I will have to try robbing a house and killing one of those guys that unloads boats and stock stores, just to get the loot he is carrying in those creates.

Good or bad, some things are just too cool (for a game of course) to not do.

My ideal character would be named Cigara. He'd walk around town with a crossbow and battle ax, raping innocent women, setting children on fire with his magic, and drink the blood of his enemies bwaha!

just kidding about everything except the name ;)

I'd feel too bad doing lots of evil things in this game, so i'd be a do-gooder, walking old women across the street, getting kittens out of trees, and killing zombies, demons, and whatever evil things come my way :cheers:

My dude's name would be Sephious. He would generally follow the path of good, but in an evil sort of fashion. It's not like he would go around killing people for no reason, but if an enemy came, he would show absolutely no mercy and be merciless(Wow, that was awesome using two adjectives that mean the same thing). His foes would cower before him, begging for mercy, but Sephious would crush their skulls, or dismember body parts anyway. He wouldn't follow the path of magic, because he is extremely physically fit and already very good with the sword. Oh yea, he's a demon too :D.

My char's name would be Stephan or somthin' like that (I know - it sucks) and would be some kind of good ninja with all the phisycal skills (sneaking, fast running, high jumping, fast weapon handling) and magical skills (Invisibility etc.). The weapons would be (of course) a Katana (if available - if not a scmitar or such) and a crossbow or trowing stars or knives. He will protect the innocent and punish the evil. No wife.

To tell you the truth Alex I did too. But my buddy got me to read em' and WOW the fighting, characters and storylines are AMASING. Anyway, you should check one out man!

PM said you can try and "talk up" or "chat up" a guy (meaning flirt with), but you won't get a reaction. Only women will be attracted to you.

So I guess if you want you can play a gay guy. A rather unsucessful gay guy, but a gay guy none-the-less.

They said something about how much longer it take to make the game due to the amount of work that is put into the main hero's evolution. So they stuck with a guy. I read that in a preview or interview quite some time ago...

Guys, from all I've read, you WILL NOT be able to name your character. Nope, but you will gain a 'title' as you play, and I imagine they have a slew of them lined up. So, yeah, I'll be 'Fable Dude X' and I'll play as a neutral thief/ranger, utilizing stealth and archery to get my druthers. I imagine I'll take any opportunity to rob the rich and powerful, while finding a soft spot in my heart for the downtrodden. Pretty much how I play any good RPG.

Yea... really... What the hell is up with that? Jeeze, just for that reason this game is looking pretty bad. If they can't code being able to choose your own name, I don't want to know what the rest of the game will be like.

I mean, just imagine playing KOTOR without being able to choose your own name. That would just be splendid...

I wasn't happy about it either, at first. Naming your character is a HUGE part of any good RPG IMHO. But, at least you can gain a title specific to your character's play style. If you murder people in their sleep, you'll be known as 'the Sandman'...that sort of thing.

yea I think hes right about why you may not be able to choose your name. I've read from interviews that there won't be one unspoken word of dialogue in the entire game. I say its well worth it, even though it would be nice to be able to name your character, then again everyone starts out exactly the same, so really you are just taking control of a kid's life, not creating a new person.

Drizzt Du'Urden is only the best pure fighter ever written about in the D&D world. How can if be ridiculus to have a sword in both hands. The fight sequences in these books are the best -- bar none. If you have never read anything about Drizzt, then YOU MUST!

I can't belive that all of you are talking about a pure fighter to play. The power in an RPG is in the magic! I'll be a magician. For sure, no doubt! How can you not. I won't even allow anything to get near me. Before it arrives it's dead! I can simply freeze it in it's tracks or teleport away. There is no stopping an accomplished sorcerer!

As for the good and evil thing. I will be very good. Well, good to myself. Don't get me wrong there will be no senseless killing my Mr. Mojo, but if they have something that I want, then that something will quickly become mine. Even if I have to wait in a forest to waylay the rich travellers! HAHAHAHA! More money = more spells, and equipment!

my guy would be named, Darko. he will be good first, then after i will have a bad guy but now he will be good. He will have a sword and a bow(a sword as strong as Aragorn and the Speed of the Bow like Legolas(LOTR))and someone said you might beable to cotumize your armor and something else well that would be cool. He would look kinda like Legolas as much as i could and some like Aragorn. but i would join a guild that wouldn't make me do as much bad things as i plan to do.

the way I understand the name system is that you are given a name at birth which you can't change (just like in real life.) , but their are certain publicists that you can hire to spread a nickname around for you, in this way you can become known as a non-generic name.

Definitely a theif/magic user. He'd be awesome. Wearing a black cape and leather armor, he would sneak behind his enemies and behead them with his enchanted scyth! yep you can customize armor and weapons, and from what I've seen there isn't an emcumberance system, meaning you can carry however much you want, but I'm not sure I'm just guessing because in a trailer it showed him looking through about 30 different outfits in his inventory.
