The Rumor Mill – April 2004: PT1

With E3 just one month away, we thought it was time to kick up the rumor mill once again. As our sources have been so reliant over past issues of the feature, they have came back once again to tell us more on E32004, Xbox2 and more!
Xbox Goes To San Andreas!

It has been debated for months now but the truth is, its converting to X! Our industry insiders spotted running code of the game displaying online capabilities unusually friendly to the Xbox LIVE layout. It is not known what console the game was running on but along with a seriously successful double pack last year, Rockstar will want the same success with this title.

Xbox Gets Evil!

After much denial, it seems that the Gamecube just cannot provide the success Capcom needs to launch their next big title in the Resident Evil series. Following on from the dropping sales of past outings exclusive to Gamecube, it seems that Capcom have no other choice than to go multi-platform with their stunning Reident Evil 4. The official announcement is expected sometime in May.

Microsoft At E3 2004 Means Business!
Not only will Microsoft be revealing the first details and in-game demos of their next console, Microsoft will be out in full force announce partnerships and massive brand new exclusive titles to Xbox to let the machine go out with a bang. Microsoft is expected to announce at least 5 brand new earth-shattering exclusive titles for Xbox at the show.

Konami brings more to X

Following the announcement of one of Konami’s biggest franchises, Silent Hill 4 coming to Xbox came another nail in PS2’s coffin. Pro Evolution Soccer is now officially coming to Xbox. However, we already know all of this. At E3 2004, Konami is expected to announce, in a shocking move that Metal Gear Solid 3 or a variation of the franchise will be appearing on Xbox within the next year. This seems to make sense as over the past few months, Konami has been announcing that its biggest franchises are coming to Xbox. (Dance Dance Revolution, Silent Hill, Pro Evolution Soccer etc) and with the 2nd Metal Gear title already on the green box, it seems a natural move for Konami.

Microsoft Gets X2 Busy
As Microsoft sees the future of gaming much more software-orientated compared to Sony’s more hardware-emphasised approach, Microsoft has started working on 3 brand new franchises to launch the console. Whilst these are certainly early in development, first glances say that they are extremely special. One is a brand new Action title that displays some of the most realistic physics ever seen in a videogame. No details are known on the other two titles as of yet.

1st Japanese Developer Starts On Xbox2!

Team Ninja is the first Japanese developer to start working on Xbox 2 titles. While work has only just begun, we wonder what these titles could be. Dead Or Alive 4? Ninja Gaiden 2? Extreme Beach Volleyball 2? Who knows. One thing for sure is that these are going to be the titles that showcase the Xbox 2 hardware because Team Ninja can squeeze every single bit of the hardware into making the best looking games ever. That’s for sure!

I bet most of you guys like the last part a lot. TEAM NINJA!! plus a version of MGS3, goodness the whole article is banging gang.

thoughts?
