do you guys think there should be more teams in multi-player? i dont know if bungie has said anything about adding more, but i think it'd be fun to have a red vs. blue vs. green vs. yellow type game. sometimes when i have a LAN party someone gets the shaft because of uneven teams and stuff....just wanted to know your guy's opinions on this matter

Maybe, but only for slayer or oddball (and rally but noone plays that anyways).
But if it comes down it, I'd say 2 teams is plenty.

I think having more teams would be a great option. Many maps probably wouldn't facilitate it though, if you wanted to play capture the flag,

Exactly, you would have to have maps designed for that number of teams (cause you can't just add in bases w/ flags for the extra teams to start at).
Adding a bigger possible number of teams won't solve the extra player problem, just make it worse.

i think there should only be teams if there are more team bases and it should be restricted by the number of players and stuff like that

I fantasized about this before, but, it would be very confusing to implement.

I think having the option for more teams would be great. It would totally solve the extra player issue for many people. It would also add an extra dynamic to the gameplay that would be particularly interesting for Clan Battles. Having 4 clans go at it 4v4v4v4 would be intense. But more than anything, it would take little to implement, and just add more variety. Remember, just because something is an option doesn't mean you have to use it.

I would take ALOT to implement. The maps are designed for two teams (hence the two bases). If you added more, you would need maps built SPECIFICALLY for only that amount of teams. You can't just add another base inbetween, because than they have a disadvantage. The maps are designed for two teams so that no team has an advantage over the other (layoutwise).
So don't expect more than two teams, because then Bungie would have to build completely new maps to support them. Wouldn't you rather them focus on just two teams so that you can play ALL the maps instead of specific maps for more than two teams?
I think the answer speaks for itself.

Personally I like the idea of more than 2 teams. Seems like I'm in the minority on this one. Everyone is talking like HALO 2 won't have new maps. I am really looking foward to that aspect if they do put it more maps. I will be disapointed if they just keep the origianl maps.
If they do do more than 2 teams I hope they will design it good. No certian team has a tatical layout advantage or disadvantage from the start.

No it doesn't. Some people would like it. Some wouldn't. Making it an option would make everyone happy. Bungie wouldn't have to support all maps for it, and it would only matter with CTF. I'm not so sure CTF would be great for more than two teams, but it would definately be cool for other modes like slayer and king of the hill.

I would think that all the Halo 2 multiplayer maps will be completely new. Maybe Downloadable Content on Xbox LIVE, but I wouldn't expect them to be included when the game goes gold.
Alex, the bases do matter for more than 2 teams. You can't have two teams with bases, and one team that spawns in the middle of the map (or wherever). Trust me, 2 is quite enough.

with 32 person games, there definately should be more teams, just to make everything crazier

It would take some effort, but no the monumental amount Zero is claiming. Yes maps are designed primarily for 2 teams (yes, hence 2 bases). However, there are points on many maps where a 3rd and 4th team could be implemented. Perhaps the balance wouldn't be as focused, but as was said, it's an OPTION. You could create new gametypes based around more teams. Anyhoo, yes it could be done, no it won't work perfectly with the maps.

I think it would be a great idea, like, try this on for example. You the main game of Red vs Blue, and Green vs Yellow, their bases are close to eachother like Classic halo CTF, then Yellow vs Green is out in a farther off part of the map, and they are mainly duking it out with eachother, but say Green goes for Red, it would count for 2 points instead of one since they had to so far and through "more people" in a way.
I think something like this would be kind of cool to add, :)

that would be cool too
but 1 vs. 1 would be more fun (to me)
I hope theres like a game where the object of it is to controll the oposite teams base or something.
And another game where theres 2 teams (1 outside 1 inside) the team outside has to controll the enemie base inside. And the team inside would have to kill everyone thats outside :D

I'm not sure what you're responding to, so I'll try and clarify what I meant. Including the option for more teams would be hard for bungie, but they want to be the best and that shouldn't be easy. It wouldn't be neccesary that every map support (ie: has more than two bases) multiple teams, just like it isn't neccesary that Battle Creek supports sixteen players. By that I mean some maps would let you use more than two, while others wouldn't.
And finally, I don't think CTF would work (as it is played now) with more than two teams. I can imagine some rule changes that would be interesting, but I'll leave it in the hands of the developers.
