During yesterday's conference call with investors, Interplay CEO Herve Caen made several remarks about future Dark Alliance and Fallout action-RPG titles.

The most interesting news is that future Dark Alliance titles will be free of all things Dungeons & Dragons, and will no longer be set in the Baldur's Gate universe. Initially Interplay had traded its general rights to D&D titles (rights now owned by Atari) in order to develop their Dark Alliance titles for consoles, with the understanding that the D&D license could be used for those titles until 2008. Caen, however, explained that that agreement had changed. Thus, the next Dark Alliance title will take place in an Interplay-developed game universe, using its own rule set.

In related news, Caen mentioned active development of a new Fallout action-RPG title for consoles. Apart from specifying that the title is not a sequel to Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, no further details were given.

Caen did say that current projects at Interplay are expected to ship in fiscal years 2004 and 2005. Of course, we'll get you more details as soon as they come in. Stay tuned.
