"....will now re-invent Ghost Recon into a third-person team shooter..."

that's in the last paragraph in the second column

Nice find. But I enjoyed the game as a first person shooter, I wonder why they would decide to change it. Was there a big push to change the aspect of the game?

I liked it as FPS too, but I wish the gun was there...it kinda seemed wierd.

im with Batcave76, it seems as if Redstorm is gonna take a strike at SOCOM much moreso than Conflict. Conflict isn't really a high name in video games, nor that good of a game. SOCOM is PS2 top game, and I would suppose it wouldn't be the worst idea to go after whats being the best on Playstation 2. UBI is definately turning themselves into the best publisher around, and I think Xbox Live is one of their big helps. (Come on, it made Ghost Recon, Splinter: PT, & Rainbow much more popular) Ubi doesn't seem to have any desire to let us Xbox owners down either. :)

Sweet it will now be like Socom,What,Yeah,Okayyy. Now I can finally own a GhostRecon game!!!

04-17-2004, 09:42 PM
BOO....dont mess with perfection.
If its third person,It wont be ghost recon,I ont care what you call it.

i still think they need a whole new graphics engine...cause they are pushing the limits on the one they are using now! come on! join the ubisoft team! get the good graphics!

Third Person Shooters < First Person Shooters....

04-17-2004, 10:02 PM
Booooooooooooooo!!!!!!! Boooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!

I liked it how it was, but I do think seeing the gun would be better. Basically like Halo. I hate playing SOCOM, the whole 3rd person thing doesnt do it for me. When is this game due out?

its supposed to come out in november. if halo 2 comes out around that time...i wont be getting GR2

04-18-2004, 12:43 PM
I think the 3rd person view will be good for the series. I for one am looking forward to it :D

04-18-2004, 04:10 PM
i think it will be bad. theyve done so well with the firstperson, why change it! i thought it was unique that way especially how you cant see the gun. i liked it, they shudnt change it

04-18-2004, 04:25 PM
First person,in my opinion makes for a more intense experiance.I loved the first Ghost Recon.
Even if the new game is really good,it means the death of a great game.

04-18-2004, 06:58 PM
i wont be buying this game even though i was hyped abt it.third person just does'nt do it for me.

04-18-2004, 07:36 PM
I mentioned the third person thing in the "E3 rumour thread" and was shot down in flames, lol.

04-18-2004, 07:57 PM
I think it could be a good move. If it ain't broke, BREAK IT.

The Rainbow 6 series wiped out GR. They needed to change direction.

People seem to like SOCOM. And we have no exceptional third person LIVE titles.

I welcome the change.

This will be a great game still folks - don't sleep on Ubi - you should know that by now. THE best company for Xbox hands down and yet, everyone that's in here can't make the games, just play 'em - I bet half of you were complaining about how in GR the gun didn't show, just the reticule - well, you now have a gun and the over-the-shoulder cam - bring it on, this will kick the crap outta SOCOM.

There will be much more added to the series now - probably vehicles and more guns to sit on - yup, welcome to the battlefield soldiers.

3rd person view will take a while to get used too.....but if its a shooting game, then it should be in FPS.

How hard is it to be Sam Fischer fool? It's not like this is the first game to ever do this...geez :bang:

it was so awkward which would take time to get used to. i reallly liked the way the origional GR series handled everything in FPS mode.

you completely change the game mechanics, you end up with a completely different game.
I like Ghost Recon.
Now Its gone.
In its place will be a different game.
it'll just be called Ghost Recon.
It proabably WILL be a great game, but I'll miss Ghost Recon.

No no no no no. I wanted this game more than Halo 2. I loved Ghost Recon. Why did they have to freaking screw it up? I am really pissed now. Thanks for the info though.

Remeber the time when almost every game was in 3rd person. Thanks to the success of TombRaider and Resident Evil when they 1st blew the 3-D world away.Ahhhh the good ol'days

Like Casper said, it's still a Ubi product and that by itself catches my attention right off the top. To me Ubi makes some great shooter games and that's the bottom line. I'll be eagerly awaiting this games release.

04-21-2004, 12:04 AM
Wow...never saw this one coming. I loved it in FPS, but I'm confident they won't ruin the online aspect of the game.

04-21-2004, 12:45 AM
With it being 3rd person, I might have to give it a try :)

It is NOT going to be a 3rd Person Shooter; the 3rd person view is OPTIONAL!

But don't listen to me, go to their OFFICIAL WEBSITE: ghostrecon2.com and browse the forums to get the official info/.

04-21-2004, 03:24 PM
Yeah, I checked out the Forums and it seems to confirm that the main emphasis of the game will still be First-person.

Here's a quote from an apparently legitimate source, " I never confirmed that it was a third-person view. What I did confirm that there will be an optional view that may appear similar to a traditional third-person view."

Oh well, I was looking forward to a complete overhaul.

if its 3rd/1st person i really don't care. They are doing this to distinguish ghost recon from rainbow. As it is the 2 games core gameplay are, or at least seem, to be pretty much the same. so its a good move. besides im sure want a change of pace after playing halo2 for 48 hrs. strait!!!!! :hump:

well even if they make it 3rd person i welcome it...i feel like r6 killed Gr and if they needed a change...GR is great and all but r6 is better...if they give u the option to make it 3rd persony then thats the view im gonna play it in...by the time GR2 comes out ill have R63BA for 1st person neways so wuts the point of having another one...id rather switch to a completly different game then play one similar...pce

I think it'd be pretty sweet, kinda like SOCOM.

I think it's sweet when developers provide the option for changing from 1st person to 3rd person (and vice-versa)...simply because a person may want to have the option in given situations. In first person, it tends to limit your peripheral, whereas 3rd person gives you *some* to work with. I strongly prefer 1st person like the best of them, however, being that 3rd person is an option, I think it could be huge in certain situations.

The way I look at it is that this is Ghost Recon taken to a far more impressive level. I mean, gameplay aside, check out the graphics! Finally! A decent looking Ghost Recon game. I don't want to come across wrong by saying that GR is crap...because it's not...not in the least. It just that technology has improved so much compared to the time of the inception of the first Ghost Recon on the PC...if my memory recalls correctly, back in 1997.

I'll very likely pick this up even if Halo 2 is out :)

04-21-2004, 08:42 PM
Well I still aint happy.Screw third person. The games suposed to be difficult. The thing I loved about GR was the realisim. It felt like it was you out there, paranoid, careful in every step you took.Head shot...thats it your dead.No punk @ss lifebar.

04-22-2004, 12:20 PM
Im sure Ubi will come up with a way to satisfy a 1st and 3rd person gamer...

I think the game is going flip the ghost recon world upside down. Its going to be the shizzle.
