I posted a similar thread a long time ago like this in the General Forums...however, since this is Halo 2 specific, with many more dedicated Halo 2 fans, I'm curious to see how this will turn out.
Simply check the option on the poll...and feel free to reply :)

I voted Campaign...simply because that's where we will all be introduced to all the new weapons, characters, vehicles, and every other surprise. I plan on beating Halo 2 in one day...one long ass day...likely with a buddy via Co-op...and yes, we'll play it on Legendary (or whatever the hardest mode is called with this new version). And, I'll very likely do it on XBox Live if Campaign Cooperative play is playable over it. If not, it'll likely be at my house. If we can't do it in one day, it will definatley be in two days.
After that, I will immediately jump on XBox Live to finally show your asses that I can back up my smack talk :D

I really don't know about one day but I heard one of the levels will be very big on campaign mode. Just rumors.

Solo-Campaign on normal or heroic. Even if my friends want to play, I'll say no until i beat it once.. or twice (lol my friend is 16 and his parents won't let him get M games).
Then halo on live :)

I have to play the story mode. I have to see the new AI. I have to see the new locales. I have to see Cortana in the buff. I have to, uh, what the hell did I just type?
Yeah, story mode.

I'll probably go through the calibration, etc. in campaign just to get my halo-hands back, then Hop on live, so i chose multiplayer.

Well, it's not really rumours but you've read the bungie's weekly updates right? Well, they've been talking about those BSPs a lot and how huge they are. Something tells me that SP mode is going to take more than a day. Now, I wonder how my parents are going to react when I seem to be missing for a few days during the week Halo2 is released... :D

The xbox live feature I am for sure going to play first....well...maybe single player to get the feel for it first
I plan on campaign and I might be crazy but I want the joy of playing halo 2 to last so I wont try to beat it in a day or two, make the greatness last. Then again it might be to addictive to not play.

ya me too, but I just don't want any of the people I am going to beat the game with to just go beat it on their own while I am sleeping or away, I wanna beat every level with my little brother and a couple friends or people on my friends list.

Gotta do multi-player. Takin the xbox to work with me and my fellow co workers are havin a lan party on the schools (yes I work at a school) t-3 line...whoop!
Play through a couple/few levels to get everything old back down and learn the new stuff, then onto live.
No need to finish it too quickly. Generally I play campaign mode on games in the morning when most of my FL is asleep or at work, then move to the multi later in the day.

With the first one, Multiplayer would be some I'd retreat to for some blasting after having my head blown off multiple times on Legandary ;)
Gotta be Single Player.

I voted not sure yet.....the time will come shortly when I have to make the decision, but proly what I did with SC:PT ... Play one level campaign then go straight to multiplayer and never go back to solo....but if I get it the first or secong day then I will most likely go straight for Multiplayer because everyone in there will be most likely noobs like I will

solo then after i get through about half, start with some live stuff

If its similar to halo then there wont be much noobs, the only reason why there were noobs with SC:PT was because the first one didnt have multiplayer

well put, and not at all all too arrogant :D
CAmpaign, there will be a*holes on live out to ruin the story, and if that happens to me....geez. I remember when i was playing halo 1 and SPartan VI called me, and said dude, have you run into the flood yet?
That story ends exactly how you think it does...
I killed him.
anyways, as good as you htink you already are at halo 2 (not reffering to maximus, but everyone), there will be new strategies in halo 2.dual weilding, banshees, hijacking....
its not the same ol' ball game.

Probably play Campaign for the first half of the day. Then go on Live for the second half. Then who knows

I'm not 100% sure yet. I think I will probably do the campaign just to get a feel for the game, then hold a system link night with my friends. Now that my brother has gone off to college, I don't have a person to play Halo campaign with all the time. We'll see what happens.

Someone made a good point about playing campaign first. If you go on Live, you know some jackass who heard what the twists are in the story will spoil it online. That's why I'm definitely gonna beat the game first on Legendary Co-Op with a friend. But if you do play Live first, make sure you play with friends, not randoms who could ruin the story for you.
