About the pistola

Just because it hasn't been seen in any pictures doesn't have me believing it won't be in Halo 2. I'm sure it will be, but I am interested as to what changes have been made to its over all balance.

I think most of us will agree if you only had one choice of weapon for Halo 1, it would be the pistol. Is it unbalanced? Ultimately, I think it was, especially compared to the alien weaponry. PErhaps that's why we love it so much. So I'm asking, what do you hope the changes to the pistol will be?

The pistol in Halo, if properly used, is by far the deadliest weapon. Using alien weapons is like a death sentence on XBC.

I also heard there will be no scope in Halo 2.

The alien weapons were weak against human, I hope they balance better in MP.

Honestly, I'd leave the pistol the way it is if I were Bungie. I'd just make the Battle Rifle the most desirable weapon instead of the Pistol.

I like the power of it...If you're confronted with one, it's not impossible to stay alive...just juke it and shoot back...works most of the time for me :)

I would like to see it remain mostly the same, except tone down the accuracy at greater lengths. I like the amount of damage it does. C'mon guys, you had to practice with it for it to become truly deadlly. It's not an unbalancing weapon in the hands of a novice.
I can't wait to use two of these bad boys.

Exactly what i would say.. No scope and less damage.. I can assault 60 bullets and kill you or I can pistol 6 and kill you....unreal to me.

I'm hoping it is the same. 3 to the head is my motto. I have a feeling the battle rifle is going to end up being like the g3a3 or m16 in rainbow six. You can go fully automatic with it, but it is much more deadly when fired in short bursts.

Technicaly more accurate. Volume of fire is also a factor of 'deadliness', but small caliber can retain good accuracy while fully automatic, high recoil/excessive heat causes reduction of accuracy.
So technicaly MOST are more deadly, If you take the ACT or SAT the answer that states ALL conditions are equal will lose to the statement MOST are true, by a very large majority. :cheers:

Haha this is hilarious, yes stating the fact that I "heard that there was no scope" for the pistol in Halo 2 is abusing my freedom of speech. Do you even listen to yourself?

It's only an unbalancing weapon if you don't know how to use it and you face someone who does. I like to consider myself a pretty capable close range sniper, and that only takes one shot to kill you, should we unbalance that? The bottomline is, the pistol is the best, yes, but does that mean we always have to tone down the strongest weapon? no, just make it harder to get in multiplayer if you don't start with it. Secondly, the plasma weapons can be very deadly if used correctly, the shotgun (on the other hand) is the overrated weapon of Halo.

I by no means think they should reduce the capability of the pistol.
Yeah the human weapons in comparance with the slightly more bland Covenant wepons seems unbalanced,but that just means they need to up the ante on the alien stuff.

I highly doubt it will be in Halo 2, due to the fact that it was the best gun in Halo, and most people will probably swear by it in multiplayer. But hopefully the battle rifle will take its place as the dominent force.

its too powerful, like someone said the battle rifle should be better than the pistol. Its stupid that the rifle is weaker, and far less accurate, and it only takes three pistol shots to kill someone. I also agree that the alien weapons need to be made more powerful, in mp they simply don't cut it.

well the plasma rifle is a good gun in multiplayer when your in close range unless the opponent has a shot gun. but the stun effect will enable you to pretty much run circles around him

Well you guys, I hate to break it to ya' but the pistol will NOT be in Halo 2. The Bungie developers have already confirmed that. It was in GameInformers cover story article. They said that they are replacing the Pistol with the Battle Rifle. Don't worry cause the battle rifle is way frikkin better than the pistol... I hope. I was sad when I heard this news as I was infamous for getting kill-taculars with three shots to the head. Oh well... :cheers:

The GameInformer article said that the Halo 2 Alpha version they played had the Pistol replaced with the Battle Rifle. You have assumed a little too much from that. Don't make up your mind about it until you see a quote from Bungie that says, "The Pistol will NOT be in Halo 2."
