Sega Europe has today confirmed that it will unveil the previously unannounced Worms Forts Under Siege at next months Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles. Currently in development for PC, PlayStation 2, and Xbox at Team 17, the game is scheduled for release in Europe towards the end of this year.

"We've really enjoyed the experience of working with Team 17, and the simple yet thoroughly addictive gameplay of Worms Forts Under Siege makes it a great way to spend your time, either on your own but especially with friends," said Matthew Woodley, European marketing director at Sega Europe. "Team 17 has managed to improve on a winning formula once again."

"Building on the strengths that have made the Worms games such a success, this latest installment sees the series taken to a new level of gameplay," added Debbie Bestwick, commercial director at Team 17. "With massive weaponry and fortifications, there's a whole new strategic element that really adds to the engaging gameplay and addictiveness of the Worms experience."

Worms Forts Under Siege will see players assuming command of a worm garrison and traveling through time to participate in epic battles. As they progress through the game players will travel to locations such as Ancient Egypt and Troy, and will do battle with such varied characters as samurai and King Arthur's knights. The game will feature an arsenal of over 30 weapons in total, and there will be numerous hidden maps, missions, challenges, and speech banks for players to unlock.

We'll bring you more information on Worms Forts Under Siege when we report live from E3 next month.

Did that last one ever come out? Was thinking about it, but haven't heard a thing since I last checked the release date. I think it was scheduled for a couple weeks ago.
