A good player needs to know the following to own.....

Learn to snipe, One shot one kill (head shot)

learn to get head shots with the pistol (let go of the trigger every shot like a semi-auto, Its more accurate)

know the maps inside and out. Be able to run threw them backwards and know where all the guns + power ups are. Also beaware of snipe hot spots.

When your invisible shooting will make you visable

standing still will make you disappear of the motion trackers

mega shields drain slowley

Use power ups wisely, Example grab the invisibilty in Hang em high and instead of shootiung exposing your self get your self a rocket launcher.

you always jump out the warthog on the left side and you always jump out a ghost on the right side. knowing this you can grab power ups and guns on the go. Master this for quick ins and outs.
(im able to leap out a warthog at full speed grab a gun and get back in before the warthog stops)

Pressing 'jump' in a ghost will raise the nose. Do this when your coming down hard.

Plasma Guns stun. take advantage of this with the ghost. Stun and run over. Also if enemy is in a tank get behind it with a ghost and start shooting. And rotate around the tank while shooting and he'll never be able to get the turret to aim at you.(remember ghost can strafe)

If you have a assualt rifle remeber it pays to melee attack while re-loading.

When using the rocket launcher jump in the air and fire at there feet. Also great for knocking out a warthog with a party of 3. Shoot rocket clean up survivors with shot gun :)

Shotgun should be used only at close range for true effectiveness. Always have a pistol or sniper rifle to acompany.

The pistol is much much stronger then it seems. 3 well placed head shots will do the trick. Far, medium and close range it is effective. Often times in a medium distance duel the pistol will over come the rifle everytime.

If you know your gonna lose a melee, throw a grenade to try to take em down with you.

Throw grenades and flank.

If you stumple on a pile of grenades toss them in the enemys general direction. 8 grenades raining down is fun fun fun.

learn to judge distance when throwing grenades. The higher you aim the further they will go. Try to get them in those nookes and cranies. I find my self killing people from the otehr side of hang em high with weill placed grenades all the time.

hope these tips will help. I got plenty more. I play MP all the time with real good players (Elites) and i yet to lose on gamespy.

Thanks for the tips there, at first I was the Halo king with all my friends but they have since caught up to me. Now I find myself losing to them. I always doubted the pistol, but I now realize it is a very effective weapon when used properly.
Any more tips?

yeah if enemy is messin people up with a tank do this:

have everyone focus on the tank with pistols.

Snipe the driver

use a rocket launcher

Get grenades under the tanks. (boom!)

take out a ghost:

Let pilot take a run at you, eiterh get around him or leap over him. Shoot pilot when his back is exposed.

Make them chase you over a hill and leave them a nice grenade treat. Boom!

These are some great tips. Definitely will try them out at the next Halo Fest.

It's good to know that there are other groups of people having "Halofests". There is a consistent group of about 12 of us that meet at least once a week for multiplayer goodness. We've had as many as 25 people at my house for fests.

If you are somewhere in the Chicago area and have a group of 8 guys that want to take on our 8 best, we'll take on anyone. I don't know if there will be any Halo leagues like the football ones that go on, but we'd like to try something like that. We have most everything needed...you would need to bring your xboxes and controllers, and if you wanted to play on something bigger than a 27 inch tv, you'd have to bring that, too. (sorry, but the big screen is for our team) We can also put each team in separate rooms for strategizing and hiding the opposing team's screens from view.

If you're ready to try (we think we're the best, but we probably suck), email me at mychiefs58@yahoo.com

The BEST trick of them all...

Get the Active Camo. power-up and sneak up behind your opponent. (works good unless your on split-screen) and use the melee attack from behind them, it kills them in one hit :)

Some more tips from JJaX:

When you pick up a gun from a spawn point you get more ammo then having the same gun thats empty already.(say i had a empty sniper rifle, I would toss that away and pick up a fresh one. Thus getting more ammo then i would by just picking it up again giving it "some" ammo. *COnfused* (very important of your a sniper whore)

in CTF on Blood gulch leave a vehicle in the middle by the portal. That way you can grab the flag hit the portal and be on your way. Be sure to have back up in the middle covering enemys coming threw after you.

If you have the flag if you throw a grenade or shoot you will toss the flag. Hand offs can be very effective is used properly.

When defending your base on gblood guclh make sure there are no vehicles withen say 20 yards of your base. That way the enemy flag carrier has to run pretty far with out being able to defend them selves. Kill escorts 1st. THen kill carrier.

If enemy flag carrier does get away, try to cut them off via portal. If hes on foot or in a ghost a sniper rifle will do the trick.

When your invisible move at 50% your running speed and you wont show up on motion detectors

running melee attacks and melee attacks in the back are more powerful

Learn to play as a team. Give locations on maps codes names. Example, On gulch there is Rock base and no rock base. Rock base being the one with the valeey behind it wotht the big rock.

Learn to commincate, tell them whats incoming and flag carrier satus.(enemy and friendly).

Learn to switch rolls on the fly, If im defending and flag carrier needs back up. Haul ass and back em up.

When using the assault rifle, when the clip is empty and the enemy is almost dead, Switch guns. Its quicker to switch guns and continue firing then to reload the assault rifle.

If you have a rocket launcer, when ever you have a second to spare make sure you have both rounds loaded. (this goes for all guns)

If in a fire fight near a over shield, Go for the shield while keeping them at bay. You will survive this.

being 100% healthy is vital to survival. low on health your gonna get dropped quick. Grenade anyone?

hope my ownage skillz help you guys out!

Also, behind the Red Base in Blood Glutch is a little hill with 2 fairly large rocks to hide behind. Park a Warthog up there (nobody checks there, heck, hardly anybody even knows about it) and man the gunner seat. Then sit quiet until an unsuspecting visitor comes knocking on Red Base's door.

And, Park a vehicle over the teleporter recall points in Blood Glutch and the teleporters will become unuseable until the vehicle is removed.

If somebody is hiding in a teleporter, try using the teleporter that will take you to the one they are hiding in. (in Wizard, they are opposite eachother) The person hiding will die. It happened to me once...never again...

You would have to be a moron to be killed like this. A simple grenade will take out that warthog. And defending the flag from back there would be futile.

Of course only an idiot would use this tactic in CTF games, but in games with several other players, it works surprisingly well. You are high enough up to get a panoramic view of the whole landscape, and far enough away that a grenade would not reach you. Plus, if somebody did try to rush at you, the gattling gun on the Warthog would rip them to shreds before they were close enough to do anything.

something fun to try... while your behind those big rocks up on that little hill a little ways behind red base on blood gulch you can throw grenades and get them inside the base through that little hole on top.....haha, pretty cool actually.

A couple of the ones that are most effective to use while playing multiplayer have already been mentioned I am sure, but Ill say the few that I feel are most important.

With the rocket launcher aim at the feet so rocket will explode even if you slightly miss em.. nothing worse than missing someone with a rocket and then getting countered and dying..

Melee attacks are deadly. In combat other than sniping, throw in a melee attack and a grenade side by side accompanied by fire power.. if you time it right its deadly.

Jump and strafe during combat, makes it harder for your opponent to hit ya.

By the way, I have a question.

Whats the best and easiest way to kill someone if they are in a warthog moving quite fast? Grenades are hard to place if they have speed... what wep works best besides plasma's grenades??

BiohazardEHW
02-06-2002, 08:31 PM
to kill someone in a warthog, shoot and strafe. if they are moving fast and they miss you, you have a good amount of time to aim a fully charged plasma pistol at them and knock every person's (thats in the vehicle) shield down...then assault rifle spray or head shots with a regular pistol. All while throwing grenades at them...

If there's a Warthog coming straight for you, don't try jumping over it. Your shins get taken out.

I've found that when your life is low, and a guy is shooting at you from close range where there is little place to hide, circleing him while ducking and jumping confuses him quite a bit (at least around here...) I've managed to kill a guy with full life this way while I had one bar and no shealds...:D

while fighting close to someone I like to throw a plasma grenade on them so even if they kill you, they die also, its funny to watch them, they start laughing at you because you died. Then they blow up, and you start laughing.:D I love to do that

My style is devilish. I was playing co-op. I was running into the battle field and killing everyone in my way. Then I would turn around and finish them off if any were lucky to survive. Then when my friends got their, they think it is no fun because I kill all of the enemies. So I just stand behind and they die because they try and do my style. THe first time I played through halo, my style was to stay back and hope I hit something. Now I get close and dodge melees. Like at the end of the Library. All of the flood were about to melee me, I shot them right as they lifted their arm and didn't take one hit. But sometimes I get too ****y and die.:D

Ah, the legendary Shererboat! I keep hearing about you from NIK and JJax. If you are as good as they are, then, you must be another bad ass Halo player. I played Jjax and NIK on Gamespy three weeks ago and found my ass in a sling afterwards! But, I have practiced a lot since then and I am much much better...So, we'll have to play sometime. I gotta see what the legendary Shererboat can do ;)

THE MIGHTY MAXIMUS!!.....ive heard of u too, and its good to know that there are people like u that actually know what theyre talkin bout, lol!!

And the rumors ARE tru, we all are THAT bad ass!!!, hahaha!!.....though its not often people see our full potential, since a 20 kills to nada start of a match tends to make most foes quit and run to their mommy for a scoop of ice cream!!!

def will look out for u on gamespy then, all in good fun, TILL THEN......

I love the whack in the back attack when your invis...it's so much fun when people dont know what hit them :)

abd I found a great sniping spot on Blood Glutch (yes, another great sniping spot).

By the peak jutting out of the mountain near the blue base, there's a slop that you can walk up and stand there, about 1/2 way up the side of the cliff. NOBODY ever goes/looks there, its a perfect spot for a view of the whole entire map. :)

I use the pistol 95% of the time. I just go for headshots. 3 or 4 of those and you're dead. If you get a good headshot with a sniper rifle or shotgun they are dead after the first shot. The needler is the most underated gun. I'd get pretty familiar with it if you don't ever use it. Always reload when you have a chance, there is no excuse for having to reload in battle. You should already have them dead or you forgot to reload. Use your radar like madness. Never stand still when someone is sniping at you. A lot of times you can duck under a ghost. If that's what it comes to duck under them and throw a plasma grenade on the bottom of it as it flies over you. If a ghost or any vehicle is coming at you throw plasma grenades at them while trying to hide behind a rock or something. If someone is ruling in a tank take them out with a ghost. The shots will stun them. The only gun that doesn't give you twice the damage for a headshot is the assault riffle. You are more accurate if you don't just hold down the fire button with the assault riffle but if you do short bursts. I usually have a pistol and a shotgun or pistol and a sniper. But if I'm in Battle Creek I have pistol and needler. In Battle Creek you can jump up on the buildings by taking a running jump on a rock or wally thing on the sude of the building then jumping on top. When fighting around a healthpack go to it while shooting so you can recharge in battle. Thanks JJAX and everyone else. You guys helped a lot!

Jaxx you seem like your the man. In Blood Gulch there is a sniping spot on the side of rock cliff. it is flat there and a huge rock is out in front of it. my friend always gets up there, well it doesnt really matter where he is because i kick ass everywhere. But it bothers me that he no somwthing about it that i dont when I am teh owner of the Xbox.

Here's one:

If you have to reload in a relatively close combat fight, instead of reloading throw a plasma grenade on the person. If they hit, they will usually stick. This makes any smart person charge, trying to take you out too. When they charge, whack them with a melee. You have just enough time to get away if you time it right.

Ted

For the jackals with the big shields, either snipe fo the whole in the shield(on the side) or melee. Melee is the best though
