Would you have bought a Xbox if Halo didn't exsist?

Just wondering, because now that I think about it, there wasn't really any other game that attracted me to the Xbox.

man, i bought my xbox 2years ago, and i had no prior knowledge of halo (when buying it, it came in an xbox bundle), and when i played it it blew my mind. So to answer your question, i bought my xbox just because i didn't like my game cube, which was the biggest waste of money, and halo was a complete bonus

I didn't really know too much about Halo, and preferred my FPS not to be in the sci-fi genre anyway.

Of course I pre-ordered it, but if there had been more out on launch, I probably wouldn't have picked it up immediately.

I had seen some movies of Halo but I hadn't experience the hype first hand so I thought I was getting just another FPS game. I would've still been at the store at 10pm on Nov 15th 2001 getting my Xbox with or without Halo.

well i didnt know about halo much. the main reason i bought the box was because of dead or alive commercial. the graphics stunned me and i went out and got the xbox. before xbox, i wasnt that big of a gamer.

i didnt even no halo existed and when i saw it, it just looked ghey, and it just didnt appeal to me, i never really digged fps before i played halo, i always played sports games...now im a fps feen...

Yea, i would have, and i did. I had the option in my bundle for Halo, and i didnt even know what it was. I didn't even end up getting it until a few months later.

The main reason I bought XBox was for Halo (and soon Halo 2, got my box last xmas). I never really played the game a lot until about 6 months ago, and thats when I decided: I need to own this system. However, I prolly would have eventually bought it since it has a lot of great titles.

P.S. I have about 6 friends that bought an xbox only after they played halo, and now its the only game they own (for now).

When I got my xbox it was not only for Halo but also for its in-your-face-ps2 power! Even if halo didn't come out, I prolly would have got one eventually. But rest assured Halo was the first disc to grace the tray of my 'box.

There are other games I wanted other than Halo... It wasn't the first game I bought. Before I got mine I finished the game (Halo) on my friend's machine when he got his on launch and I was blown away by it!... What sealed the deal for me was Splinter Cell. But of course purchased my own copy for multiplayer purposes... :p

I didn't even buy Halo till about 3 months after I had my xbox. I didn't even consider it when I first bought the box.

Sadly, Halo wasn't the game that got me hooked on Xbox. That priveledge belongs to Spiderman. I couldn't stop playing that game on my friends box. But by the time I finally got Xbox in July 2002, Halo was bought that same trip to Best Buy. I didn't own another game until that Christmas.

I ended up buying Halo at launch, but, it wasn't exactly my buying decision. To be dead honest, I was blown away with Amped and Project Gotham Racing. I ended up getting Halo (I had to wait one week for Amped since it was delayed a week). I only bought Halo because of the hype, admittingly...and when I played it, I learned that the hype never lived up to the game ;)

So, I bought XBox mainly because of my faith in Microsoft to deliver...and they did.

I didn't really know much about Halo when I bought my Xbox. I learned the joy a few months after my purchase. So, if Halo never was released, I would still own my Xbox.

At the time of da box and Halo released, I had given up gaming. I first saw Halo on my friend's box one day at his house and their was about 20 of my friends all waiting for their turn to play online. I was like that game is gay, ya'll need to get a life and yada yada.......so I sat down to give it a try later on that day and ever since I've been hooked. I think Halo was the motivation to buy a Box, but eventually I would have got one cuz of all the great games.

I didn't even believe in Halo when i first got my box. So much hype and praise i couldn't believe a game was that good. I even bought Mechassualt before Halo when i had a choose laying right in front of me. Don't worry i have seen the error of my ways though. :bang:

The first game i played was PGR, fell in love with it, since i love racing, then went and got it my self. then a few days later my friend called me over to try out some game called halo. we popped it in, pley co-op then i borrowed it from him. He said it felt like a N64 game. a week later gave it back to him.....and look what Halo is now. its the benchmark of most if not all fps

I debated before I made my decision, and in the end, the Xbox seemed like a better choice with things like a HD and a Broadband connection... I knew there had to be some reason it was there. I also liked the name... Microsoft that is. My family is a huge computer family, so everything pretty much has MS in it one way or another. I knew MS would be soon to take the market with not only marketing but also because of a soild peice of equipment and they have.

I made my decision... I stand by it. :)

To tell the truth, i bought a Gamecube first, and all my buddies bought an Xbox. When i played Halo at my friends house, i went to Electronics Boutique the very next day and traded in my Cube for a Box :). If Halo didn't exist, i would've bought it for DOA3, that game is ;) :hump: ;)

I probably would have gotten an xbox even if Halo didnt come out, because I like other games on xbox like Kung Fu Choas, Thirteen, Brute Force, and a few other games........... :cool:

I was in Software ECT. and walked by the display, I saw Halo so I went in and played, I spent about five minutes walking up to textures and staring at them. The grass, granite, and bark on the trees, I was blown away thats why I bought an xbox.

Halo wasn't a game that interested me at all, I bought Xbox for its specs, DOA3, and THPS2x. Halo was just an Xbox game that I was glad was out because it was getting good reviews, and people were buying Xbox because of it, but once I played it (oddly enough the day before I got an Xbox) I was hooked, I got my Xbox christmas day, and I beat halo within 3, you couldn't get me to stop playing it, invited people over as soon as I was allowed, great stuff. But to answer the question, yes, I would have bought Xbox if Halo didn't exist, though I doubt I still would have it... Halo 2 kept me interested in Xbox through those early days of games like Circus Maximus, Dead to Rights, and Blinx The Time Sweeper. Glad I stuck with it though.

i went to my buddys' house and played halo the day it came out bcuz my friend is one of those guys who needs everything before everyone, so he showed me it on co-op....we played for like a tousands hours...than i decided i wanted xbox .... so i probably would have baught xbox without halo....but like i said in the vote...i would have put a lot more thaught into the purchase.

i didnt pick any of those choices, cuz, halo is the only game that is worth buying, and ps2 just plain sux balls, its been out for like a lifetime and the price went down only 25 bucks, wupidy doo! no body should ever touch a ps2, i mean wut was sony thinking, its all about xbox. i mean once they saw that xbox came out, they should have took ps2 off the shelves and never put it back. Thats all i have to say. and that halo rox!!! :)

Your exactly right, when i first heard about Halo, it was from my cousin who brought it over for us to play. I mean back then, i was laughing at him b/c he said the pistol was the best weapon.

The first thing i ever saw about it was a trailer at eb, WHILE i was buying my xbox!
