I don't think so.

I've heard that Xbox simply doesn't recognize CD Rs

instead of using CD-Rs, use CD-RWs...

you don't need many. just reuse them.

Are yout alking about burn discs for playing games or burn discs to play music. If it's about playing games then the answer is NO ........... not know and hopefully never. If your asking about playing your music from CD-R's then YES. But you can't use CDR's you have to use CDRW's. You either put one song on the CDRW and then rip it on your XBOX hard drive or you can put tons of songs on your CDRW but you have to put a 2 seconde gap between every song ............ if you don't do that the XBOX will not reconize the cd. I use NERO to do my music cd and i use Verbatim as my media. Hope i helped you

Is NERO free? and is it easy to use (easy to put the two second gap)?

cause maybe thats why mine never worked... i used a CDRW but never specified the 2 second gap

I thought it automatically puts the 2 sec. gap for you.
