Get a router :)

When you unplug the cable from your PC to your Xbox, make sure that you unplug your modem too, then when you plug the Cat5 into your XBox, then turn on the modem - make sure that where you plug your XBox into the back of the modem, a green light comes on showing you that you have a link - just like what you see there when your PC is plugged in.

You've been on XBL before, and you had no problems, so make sure it's the link, but I might call Xbox Support too, but I doubt they'd be able to find their way out of a paperbag without the pre-written stuff they have there.

No, i mean make sure the cable is secure in the modem and in your xbox.

Holy shizzle. This problem sounds familiar, oh wait, I'm having it right now :bang: . I have been having this exact same problem for 3 weeks i believe, in that the computer works, but live doesnt. If it is the same, buying a router will not fix it, as I have a nice Linksys that didn't help. Is the green light lit? If it isn't lit when everything seems to be hooked up right, then welcome to the club.

I have the same problem now. Once a night, I get booted somewhere around 3 times. "Connection has been lost", though my internet is just fine, and I can reconnect instantly. I don't understand why this is considering the cables are fine, the ISP is fine, my computer, router, everything is normal.
I don't know how to explain it, considering I can get right back on after I'm dropped.
My xbox is the Halo Edition Xbox.
During RS3, the game offers to do a diagnostic using the XBL dashboard, and everything checks out OK. Router software settings, DNS, all that stuff.
Confusing.
So..
Halo Edition Xbox
Games noticed: CS, RTCW, RS3
ISP: Road Runner
Router: Microsoft MN-500 Wireless router, Xbox hard wired.
Twenty feet of cable seperating Xbox from port two on router.

I have the same problem as you Reclaimer, but not as frequently. It happens maybe once or twice a week, and it's only a pain if (in SCPT) i get a huge point penalty or (in RS3) my spot gets taken in the server i was in. I have my pc on most of the time, so if it starts acting up with the Connection Lost errors i just shut my pc off, and it'll work fine...

Just my input :)

Try using NEW CABLES! It has been the culprit for a lot of problems lately. Sometimes when switching between xbox and PC the cables can get messed up, and for some reason they only work on the PC. Well, this problem worked for me and now I got a router and never switch my cables anymore. Just let em sit in the back of my box.

I wonder if they did some change to the firmware of the NIC cards in the XBox??

Well, that's the thing. I do have a router, and the Xbox is connected to it. I thought the problem went away after not getting dropped for several days now. Now, it came back with a vengeance. I had to stop playing early because it seemed hopeless.
